FDL ROBBERY SUSPECT CHARGED
Bond was set at $10,000 cash for a Fond du Lac man suspected of robbing a Kwik Trip store on North Main Street in Fond du Lac early Monday morning. According to the criminal complaint Mason Enfelt entered the store and gave a clerk at a cash register a note that said, “Give me all you got in the cash registers before everyone gets hurt.” No weapon was displayed. After leaving the store a police officer spotted Enfelt on East Bank Street with a grocery bag. The officer told Enfelt to come to him, but Enfelt fled on foot. During that pursuit the bag was dropped spilling coins, cash and other items taken from the store. Enfelt was caught and taken to the ground. The bag contained over $640, snack food, and cigars. Enfelt is charged with robbery with threat of force, battery, two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer, criminal damage to property, 3 counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, and disorderly conduct. A couple of the charges were from an incident Sunday night where Enfelt allegedly had a fight with his boyfriend throwing him to the ground and smashed a window on the victim’s vehicle with a log. The bail jumping charges stem from an open Milwaukee County court case with an absolute sobriety condition. The preliminary hearing for the Fond du Lac County case is scheduled for next Friday. DE PERE MAN SENTENCED FOR DODGE COUNTY HIGH SPEED CHASE
A Dodge County judge Wednesday sentenced a 31-year-old De Pere man to 10 months in jail and 3 years of probation for a high speed chase in the county. The jail term for Jordan Feemster includes work release privileges. He pled no contest to a felony charge of fleeing an officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer. A second degree recklessly endangering safety charge was read into the record and dismissed. What set off the May 25th pursuit was information from Shawano County that Feemster was wanted in an attempted homicide. Flock cameras that read license plates picked him up driving on U.S. Highway 151 southbound and shortly after heading south on County Highway A. According to the criminal complaint during the subsequent chase Feemster allegedly was going 127 miles an hour and nearly struck several vehicles. Feemster faces attempted first degree intentional homicide and other charges in Shawano County for an incident on May 24th.
DRUG BUST IN WINNECONNE
Working on a tip police in the Village of Winneconne arrested a man and a woman from the Oshkosh area on drug and other charges Wednesday morning. The tip came from a woman whose husband confronted the driver of a vehicle that was parked in a neighborhood for an extended period of time. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was aggressive with the man. Later an officer spotted the vehicle in Lake Winneconne Park and the officer talked with the man and woman in the vehicle. The officer noticed signs of illicit drug use. During the subsequent investigation police seized the vehicle, a small amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, several vaporized cartridges containing THC, and concealed knives, one on the man who is a convicted felon and isn’t supposed to possess any weapons. The woman was also out on bond in another methamphetamine possession case. Both were booked into the Winnebago County Jail on several charges. (Winneconne Police Department photo).

RIPON PUBLIC ARTS ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Ripon Plan Commission this week discussed the creation of a Ripon Public Arts Advisory Council and adopted the framework for forming that Council. City Administrator Adam Sonntag told the Commission the Council would do the initial vetting process for applicants for a public arts permit and would make recommendations to the Plan Commission. Sonntag says there is interest from members of the public to serve on the Advisory Council. Council members would serve three year terms, but initial appointments would be staggered with three year, two year, and one year terms. The Council would include members of the public, representatives of Ripon Main Street, the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Plan Commission. Commission member John Splitt said as a Common Council member he had voted against the Public Arts Ordinance because he felt the Plan Commission could handle public arts permit requests themselves. Mayor Ted Grant said something similar but said he was perfectly happy with the way applications will be vetted and then approved or denied by the Plan Commission. The Commission unanimously adopted the framework for the creation of the Public Arts Advisory Council. They hope to bring forward names of potential Arts Advisory Council members at the Commission’s next meeting.
PLAYGROUND AT COUNTY PARK IN RIPON A GREAT COLLABORATION
Fond du Lac County Executive Sam Kaufman says the all-inclusive playground at Riggs County Park is a great example of government and private groups or businesses working together to get something done. Kaufman took his foster son to the grand opening for the playground at the park in Ripon last Saturday. He says his son loved it. The project was a collaborative effort involving Fond du Lac County, the Ripon Early Bird Kiwanis and Ripon Noon Kiwanis Clubs. The two Kiwanis clubs raised $130,000 and Fond du Lac County contributed $170,000. Kaufman says it is a beautiful park with hiking trails on 300 acres and now thanks to the collaboration between the County and Ripon Early Bird and Ripon Noon Kiwanis Clubs an all-inclusive playground. REPRESENTATIVE DALLMAN ON UW ADMINISTRATOR PAY RAISES
State Representative Alex Dallman feels it’s not right to award eight chancellors across the Universities of Wisconsin System hefty pay raises when students are facing tuition hikes and financial hardship. That’s just what the Board of Regents did earlier this month approving a second raise in pay this year for some administrators. The state lawmaker from Green Lake says the focus should be on the students and rewarding professors and instructors instead. Dallman says under the new pay structure; UW-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin (MUH-new-kin) will receive a 10 percent raise, which amounts to an extra $80,000 a year. It will bring her publicly-funded salary to nearly $900,000. Representative Dallman currently represents the 41st State Assembly District, but under redistricting if reelected in the fall would represent the new 39th State Assembly District.
PREPARING FOR EAA AIRVENTURE
Planes and campers are already arriving for next week’s EAA AirVenture 2024 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. Dick Knapinski of EAA says they had a record year for attendance last year and could see similar success this year if the weather cooperates. He says they had 677,000 last year and had to create parking lots and camp grounds in places they never had to before. About 12,000 aircraft showed up last year for the fly-in and convention at Wittman Regional Airport and surrounding airports. Of that 8,000 landed at Wittman Regional, and the rest flew to Appleton, Fond du Lac, Waupaca, and other airports. He says they really do become the world’s busiest airport during AirVenture week. Attendees visited from 92 countries last year.
