TOWN OF SPRINGVALE ROLLOVER INJURY CRASH
A 32-year-old Brandon man is facing his second operating while intoxicated offense after rolling over his vehicle on Fond du Lac County Highway TC Monday night and fleeing the scene on foot. The County Communications Center got a 911 call shortly before 7:30 about the crash near W11615 County Highway TC in the Town of Springvale. A pickup truck had rolled over and come to rest on its roof in the ditch. Before deputies got there a witness saw the driver of the pickup truck running west on the highway. Deputies located him near a residence. He was taken to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with a serious arm injury. Investigators say the pickup was heading west. The driver began to leave the roadway, traveled into the south ditch and then back onto the roadway. The truck continued west before rolling over several times. It came to rest in the north ditch. Speed, failure to maintain control and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. Brandon-Fairwater Fire Department, Brandon-Fairwater First Responders, and Lifestar Ambulance also responded to the scene.
FDL POLICE CATCH ROBBERY SUSPECT
Fond du Lac Police early Monday morning arrested a 19-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of robbing the Kwik Trip Store at 158 North Main Street. Police say the man entered the store and placed a note on the counter that read, “Give me all you got in the cash registers before everyone gets hurt.” No weapon was displayed during the robbery. He grabbed all the money from the cash registers along with some food and cigarette items before fleeing. Officers were able to locate the suspect matching the description given in the 100 block of West Bank Street. When an officer tried to stop the man he took off running. He was caught after a short food pursuit. Police recovered the more than $600 that was taken during the robbery. The man is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple charges including robbery and bail jumping.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Hartford Police, and the Neosho-Rubicon-Ashippun Police Department assisted at the scene.
SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING BOATER
Authorities continue their search on the Bay of Green Bay for a missing man, but both of his children were found dead nearly two days after a boating trip began. Thirty-two-year-old Bill Salnik remains missing but his 3 and 5-year-old children were found dead yesterday. He had gone sailing from Oconto near the breakwater Saturday. Last contact with him was about 5 pm Saturday evening. His 18-foot sailboat was found capsized south of Chambers Island approximately 6:23 Monday morning. The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office says the bodies of the children were found about a mile south of the boat just before 11:30 Monday morning. The children’s names were not released pending positive identification and notification of next-of-kin. Land, sea and air searches will continue for the missing Town of Little Suamico man. BEAVER DAM CAR DEALERSHIP LICENSES REVOKED
The state’s Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles has revoked the wholesale dealer licenses of a Beaver Dam car dealership. Great Lake Motors violated state law when they sold motor vehicles directly to consumers, rolled back odometers on vehicles, and falsified title documents when selling vehicles to customers. The department revoked the license effective May 22nd. The decision was upheld during a hearing on June 14th. Dealers are given 30 days to appeal a revocation. Great Lakes Motors did not appeal and the decision is final.
CONCERNS OVER TRUMP ASSASINATION ATTEMPT
A couple of local officials fear that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania throws into doubt whether anyone will be safe during large-scale political events. Fond du Lac County Executive Sam Kaufman says politics have become divisive and ugly in some cases. Kaufman says it will be interesting to find out how the shooter was able to get up on a roof top less than 400 feet from the stage Trump was speaking on. Ellen Sorensen is the President of the League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area. She is concerned not only about candidates at a political rally but supporters and others there to find out a candidate’s views. Trump was shot in the upper part of his right ear, one rally attendee was killed, and two others wounded. Law enforcement officials killed the shooter.
CREATING THE FDL COUNTY CAMPUS
The Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors tonight will take up five resolutions that would convert the former UW-Oshkosh Fond du Lac campus into the Fond du Lac County campus. The County already owned the land and buildings when the UW-Oshkosh severed its relationship with the campus at the end of last month. Fond du Lac County Executive Sam Kaufman says they had two choices to sell it or keep it and try and create ways to make it self-sufficient. In addition to the resolution to create the Fond du Lac County campus, supervisors this evening will consider putting $1 million in ARPA funds into building improvements, and selling the Portland Street Annex property, building that houses the Land and Water Conservation Department, subdivide and sell a parcel known as the Rugby Field. The County Board meets at 6 pm in the legislative chambers of the City-County Government Center in Fond du Lac.
WELL WATER CONCERNS AFTER FLOODING
The state’s Department of Natural Resources encourages private well owners to consider testing their drinking water after significant rainfall and flooding. Heavy rains can impact drinking water quality. Flood waters and runoff contain bacteria and other contaminants that can affect private water supplies and cause the spread of waterborne illness. Wells located in pits, basements and low-lying areas are especially susceptible to contamination. Well owners who experience flooding or observe changes to the taste, color or sediment levels in their water following heavy rainfall should assume their well is contaminated and take the following steps. Stop drinking the water and find an alternate source of safe water. Disinfect your well. This procedure is best done by a licensed well driller or pump installer with the expertise and equipment. Before resuming water consumption, sample the well after pumping and disinfection to ensure its safety. Drinking water testing kits are available at most county health departments.
