23 June 2024 News
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies, emergency responders and road crews were kept busy Saturday evening with numerous flooding related calls. Unofficial reports of 8 inches of rain between Friday and Saturday, particularly along a line from Waupun through Oakfield to Eden, caused significant flooding in some areas. One of the more serious calls involved a vehicle that was swept off the road and into the adjacent creek in Eden. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out and get to land before his vehicle became fully submerged. If you see barricades put up on roads, you are asked to take an alternate route.
Saturday night Waupun Mayor Rohn Bishop issued a Disaster Declaration due to significant rainfall and flooding across the city. Those who experienced damage are advised to take pictures and contact their insurance company to report damage. Waupun city officials ordered large dumpsters to help residents dispose of things that may have been damaged by flooding. They will be available at the City Garage on North Madison Street on Monday.
