6/15/24 Vehicle Crash at Merrimac Ferry Crossing

Columbia County Sheriff’s officials say a drunken driver crashed his vehicle into the Wisconsin River at the Highway 113 Merrimac Ferry Crossing in the Town of West Point late Thursday night. The vehicle did not strike the ferry, but the ferry was closed while equipment at the launch site was inspected for possible damage. Both occupants were able to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore. A passenger suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Deputies noticed the driver, 20-year-ol Treyson Doyle of Sun Prairie, showed signs of intoxication. He was arrested and taken to the Columbia County Jail on a charge of OWI first offense causing injury.
