Yusei Kikuchi and four Toronto Blue Jays relievers combined to shut out the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Kikuchi (4-5) gave up three hits in five innings, walked four and struck out five to record consecutive wins for the first time since April. Kikuchi gave up one run in six innings in his previous outing on Thursday against the Orioles.

Closer Yimi Garcia got four outs to record his fifth save in six tries.

George Springer’s run-scoring single in the second off Carlos Rodriguez (0-1) gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.

The Blue Jays stranded a pair of runners in the second and left the bases loaded in the third before pushing across another run in the fourth on Spencer Horwitz’s base hit, which chased Rodriguez.

Rodriguez became the eighth Brewers player to make their major league debut this season. The 22-year-old righthander also became the 12th different pitcher to make a start for Milwaukee through 67 games. The franchise record is 17 set by the Seattle Pilots in 1969.

A sixth-round pick of the Brewers in the 2021 draft, Rodriguez became the 16th Nicaraguan-born player in major league history and the first for the Brewers. He gave up seven hits and two runs in 3 2/3 innings while walking one and striking out four.

Danny Jansen drove in a run in the ninth to push Toronto’s lead to 3-0.

The loss ended a six-game home winning streak for the Brewers, who left 10 runners on base.

RHP Chris Bassitt (6-6, 3.80 ERA), who hasn’t allowed a run in 14 innings in his career against Milwaukee, will pitch for the Blue Jays. RHP Tobias Myers (2-2, 4.15) gets the start for the Brewers. He pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed one hit in his last start on Friday at Detroit. First pitch is at 1:10 from American Family Filed.

Elsewhere in the NL Central Tuesday the Rays beat the Cubs 5-2, the Indians downed the Reds 5-3 and the Pirates shaded the Cardinals 2-1.  The Brewers lead the Pirates by 6 ½ games and the Cubs, Reds and Cardinals are 7 out.

In the Midwest League Tuesday the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 5-2. The T-Rats improve to 37-21 while the Whitecaps drop to 29-29.  First pitch is at 5:35 CDT.

In a high-scoring contest featuring 32 runs and 32 hits, the Madison Mallards defeated the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 18-14 at Herr-Baker Field on Tuesday night. With this loss, the Dock Spiders’ record dropped to 5-10 for the season.

The Dock Spiders will travel to Madison on Wednesday to face the Mallards again, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Tonight is game three of the NBA Finals in Dallas with the Mavericks trailing the Celtics, who won the first two games of the series in Boston.

Meanwhile, Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis suffered what the team called a “rare injury” to his left leg and is officially listed as questionable for Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.

The Celtics announced Tuesday that Porzingis has a torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg. The team said Porzingis’ status for the upcoming Finals games will “determined day-to-day.”

Jordan Love says he’s optimistic that he and the Green Bay Packers can agree on a long-term deal before the start of training camp next month.

“It’s what I’ve heard,” the 25-year-old quarterback said Tuesday during the opening day of the Packers’ minicamp.

Love signed a one-year extension last May that included $13.5 million in guaranteed money with another $9 million in incentives. Love has been eligible to sign a new extension since May 3, the one-year anniversary of that most recent deal.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told a Milwaukee radio station last week that the team wants to get an extension done before the start of training camp.

Love boosted his stock as a first-year starter last season by completing 64.2% percent of his passes for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while helping the NFL’s youngest team go 10-9 and advance to the NFC divisional playoffs.

The 2020 first-round pick from Utah State threw 22 touchdown passes and one interception during a nine-game stretch that culminated with a 48-32 upset of the Dallas Cowboys in a wild-card game.
