5/6/24 Standoff Incident in FDL Resolved Without Incident

6 May 2024 News

Police in Fond du Lac early this morning arrested a 31-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of harming his 11-year-old son during an incident in the 600 block of East Scott Street. The boy called 9-1-1 saying his father was intoxicated, started to fight and injured him. He met police outside the residence dressed only in shorts and wrapped in a blanket with an observable injury. Three other children were inside the apartment, but the suspect made verbal threats through a closed door aimed at law enforcement. Police and Sheriff’s SWAT Teams were called in. Eventually the man opened the door to the apartment, exited with a child and locked the door behind him. He was taken into custody and the door was breached to get the remaining two children.  The man was arrested on charges of felony physical abuse of a child-intentionally causing bodily harm, felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor bail jumping. He is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail. The 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury.
