The Brewers return to action after an off-day Thursday and play at Boston against the Red Sox. Milwaukee (28-21) will start right-hander Bryce Wilson (2-1, 2.70 ERA) against Boston right-hander Kuter Crawford (2-2, 2.17 ERA).First pitch is at 6:10.
In the NL Central Thursday the Braves shutout the Cubs 3-0, the Giants nipped the Pirates 7-6 and the Padres downed the Reds 6-4. The Brewers lead the Cubs by 2 games, the Cardinals are 5 games out, the Pirates 6 and the Reds are 8 ½ behind.
In the Midwest League Thursday, the South Bend Cubs nipped the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-3. The teams play again tonight at South Bend with the first pitch at 6:05 CDT,
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders open their 8th season in the Northwood’s League Monday, at home, against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. First pitch is at 1:05 from Herr-Baker Field in Fond du Laac.
Jaylen Brown matched his career playoff high with 40 points, 10 of them to help Boston run off 20 points in a row in the first half to take the lead for good, and the Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 126-110 on Thursday night to open a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Following up on Game 1s, when his 3-pointer with 5.7 seconds left in regulation forced overtime, Brown helped Boston turn a five-point first-quarter deficit into a 15-point second-quarter lead.
Jayson Tatum and Derrick White scored 23 points apiece and Jrue Holiday had 15 points and 10 assists for the top-seeded Celtics, who lost Game 2 in both of their previous series this postseason.
Pascal Siakam scored 28 for Indiana, which returns home for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday night. Tyrese Haliburton, who had 25 points and 10 assists in the series opener, had 10 points and eight assists Thursday before leaving the game in the third quarter because of a sore left leg.
One game after the Celtics jumped to a 12-0 lead and Indiana spent the rest of the first half clawing its way back, the lead changed hands 10 times in the opening quarter, with the Pacers holding a 27-22 edge with 1:14 left.
Then Boston scored the next 20 points.
Indiana missed nine straight shots and committed four turnovers during the drought that lasted more than six minutes. Brown scored 10 on his own during the run and had 24 at the half; he opened the third quarter with two quick baskets to give the Celtics a 61-52 lead.
But Siakam also came out hot in the second half, hitting four baskets in the first four minutes – a pair of 2s and a pair of 3s – to make it a two-point game. Boston pulled away again – this time for good, scoring 16 of the next 21 points.
Indiana never got within single digits again.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers beat the Stars 3-2 in double overtime Thursday night. The Oilers lead 1-0.

Two buildings in downtown Green Bay could get some new artwork this summer if two new murals are approved.
Local artist Beau Thomas would be commissioned to paint the murals. He has painted other murals in the city..
One proposed mural would be painted on the Ray Nitschke Memorial (Main Street) Bridge tower and would honor Packers legend Ray Nitschke, an iconic player from the Lombardi era. The other mural, one of another Packers legend, Bart Starr, is proposed for the west exterior side of the Bellin building.
According to Downtown Green Bay, Inc., the Landmarks Commission unanimously approved the Bellin Building Bart Starr mural and the Public Arts Commission unanimously approved the Nitschke Bridge Tower mural. Downtown Green Bay says that one is still pending approvals from the City of Green Bay Department of Public Works.
The Ripon boys and girls track team’s competed Thursday in the sectionals at Appleton North. The boys finished 22nd with 6 points. Notre Dame won with 78 points. The Tigers Brandon Beahm qualified for state in the pole vault.
On the girl’s side, the Tigers finished 24th with 4 points. Freedom won with 85.5.
