From Wayne Mausser:

Christian Yelich hit a go-ahead two-run triple in the eighth inning and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Miami Marlins 7-5 on Tuesday night.

William Contreras had two hits and three RBIs, and Willy Adames doubled twice for the NL Central-leading Brewers (28-20).

Trailing 5-4, Jake Bauers doubled against Marlins reliever A.J. Puk (0-5) to lead off the eighth and Contreras drew a two-out walk. Yelich then cleared the bases with a drive to deep right-center that put the Brewers ahead 6-5. Adames’ RBI double scored Yelich and chased Puk.

The two extra base hits by Adames snapped a 1-for-17 skid.

Tobias Myers (1-2) pitched a scoreless seventh for his first major league win and Joel Payamps followed with a perfect eighth. A night after squandering a one-run lead in the ninth, Trevor Megill struck out the side to earn his seventh save.

Dane Myers’ sacrifice fly capped a three-run sixth inning off Brewers starter Robert Gasser and gave Miami a 5-4 lead. Jazz Chisholm Jr. scored from second on Otto Lopez’s sacrifice bunt to make it 4,-3 and Christian Bethancourt hit a game-tying single ahead of Myers.

Making his third major league start, Robert Gasser allowed five runs, four earned, and 10 hits.

Milwaukee struck quickly against Miami starter Trevor Rogers with single runs in the first and second. Contreras’ RBI double put the Brewers on the board and Blake Perkins’ run-scoring single made it 2-0.

The Marlins narrowed the gap on López’s RBI single in the second before Contreras’ two-run single in the fourth extended the lead for Milwaukee.

Rogers’ outing ended after 3 2/3 innings. The left-hander allowed four runs and six hits, walked four and struck out four.

RHP Freddy Peralta (3-2, 4.17 ERA) will start the series finale for the Brewers on Wednesday. LHP Jesús Luzardo (1-3, 5.02 ERA) will go for the Marlins. First pitch is at 5:40.

OTAs mark the first time Packers returners, rookies and offseason additions are able to take the practice field all together.

The Packers will hold seven more OTAs on May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4 and June 6. Mandatory minicamp will then take place June 11-13.

The Celtics were all but buried.

The Indiana Pacers, massive underdogs in these Eastern Conference finals, coming off a dramatic victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden to advance to this series 48 hours earlier, had the ball and were up three with 10 seconds remaining. They only needed to inbound the ball and hit a free throw to seal the victory.

But then Indiana threw the ball away, giving the Celtics life. And after a spectacular inbounds pass from Jrue Holiday — one of many spectacular moments from him en route to a 28-point, 7-rebound, 8-assist, 3-steal performance – to Jayden Brown in the corner allowed Brown to rise and fire from 3, he hit the game-tying jumper with 5.7 seconds remaining,

The shot ultimately sent Boston on its way to a heart-stopping 133-128 overtime victory to open this best-of-7 affair.  Game  two is Saturday.

The Western Conference Finals begin tonight as the Minnesota Timberwolves host the  Dallas Mavericks

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed Tuesday that the Louisville Metro Police Department will launch an investigation into whether the officers who arrested Scottie Scheffler on Friday morning outside Valhalla Golf Club — before the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship — followed proper protocol.

Greenberg confirmed Saturday that arresting officer Bryan Gillis did not activate his body camera at the time of the arrest. He went on to state that the department would release any footage it captured but that it lacked video of the initial contact between Scheffler and Gillis. Greenberg hoped a camera across the street would provide the missing footage and that it would be made public.

According to the arrest report, the road on which Scheffler’s incident occurred was closed in both directions following the fatal accident from earlier Friday morning.

Scheffler is alleged to having “refused to comply” with Gillis’ instructions, leading Scheffler to continue move his vehicle forward with Gillis saying he was dragged to the ground by the PGA Championship courtesy car. The officer received medical treatment after he  “suffered pain, swelling and abrasions to his left wrist and knee,” and his uniform pants, valued at approximately $80, were “damaged beyond repair.”

Scheffler’s arraignment, originally scheduled for Tuesday morning, was pushed back to June 3 following a successful motion from his defense attorney.
