5/19/24 The Story Behind the Dinosaurs at Town Square

19 May 2024 News

GREEN LAKE, WI, — The two massive dinosaur statues outside of Town Square always grab the attention of passersby, but there’s an interesting story behind how they came to live in Green Lake and become a prominent feature in Town Square’s annual Dino Daze event. This year’s Dino Daze is on June 8 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The first Dino Daze took place in 2021; the Town Square board members knew they had to go big and find something sure to catch the community’s attention. Patty the apatosaurus was spotted by board member Claire Maes when driving through Neshkoro, WI, and was soon moved to its home at Town Square. Soon after, Trev-rawrrr the T. rex was moved from Montello, WI to Green Lake.

“It’s a blast watching visitors light up with joy as they stop to grab a selfie with the dinos,” board member Claire Maes said. “We can’t wait to see the families have fun at Dino Daze this year!”

Patty and Trev-rawrr the T. rex stand for much of what Town Square Community Center hopes to inspire: creativity, the freedom to explore, and spending time with friends old and new. The dinosaurs are an unstoppable duo that provides a great photo op. They are even dressed up for monthly themed events! Come see them for yourself at this year’s Dino Daze.
