19 May 2024 News

Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies were able to track down a 22-year-old Pardeeville man who managed to allude them twice on his motorcycle Friday while speeding and driving erratically. Garrett Grunwald was allegedly passing vehicles on the right at speeds more than 90 miles per hour and hit an occupied vehicle in downtown Portage. He got away heading south on Highways 51 and 16. When they tried to track his license plate number it came up as an address he was no longer residing at. Eventually they located him living in Pardeeville. He told them he fled because he couldn’t get another speeding ticket. He admitted to fleeing at speeds up to 140 miles an hour. He was arrested for two counts of felony fleeing and hit-and-run to an occupied vehicle. He was also issued several traffic citations. According to state court records he has previous convictions for reckless driving-endangering safety, speeding 11 to 15 miles an hour over a 55 mile an hour speed limit, and speeding more than 45 miles an hour over a speed limit.
