A 19-year-old Fond du Lac man is facing charges for a high-speed pursuit during which he struck a County Sheriff’s squad car on the front passenger side of the vehicle. A Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull the suspect’s vehicle over for a speeding violation on Interstate 41 near Lincoln Road in the Town of Eldorado just before 1:30 this morning. During the pursuit the deputy learned the suspect had been involved in another pursuit by law enforcement earlier in the evening. The pursuit covered just over 10 miles and included the suspect running over stop sticks which deflated one of the tires on his vehicle and eluding a Fond du Lac Police squad car positioned on the off ramp at Military Road. The suspect’s vehicle came to a stop after colliding with the Sheriff’s deputy’s squad car. Deputies located open intoxicants and drug paraphernalia in the suspect’s vehicle. No one was injured. There was minor damage to both the suspect’s and deputy’s vehicles. The Fond du Lac man was arrested for fleeing an officer, second degree recklessly endangering safety, and criminal damage to property. He was cited for several traffic violations. North Fond du Lac Police and the State Patrol also assisted during the incident.
