Giannis Antetokounmpo was undergoing testing on his left calf after leaving the Milwaukee Bucks’ victory over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.

Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said Antetokounmpo was undergoing an MRI exam on his calf and also would have his Achilles tendon tested.

Antetokounmpo was heading up the court after a 3-point basket by Boston’s Derrick White late in the third quarter when the two-time MVP grabbed his left calf and took a seat on the floor before being helped off the court.

Bucks officials said Antetokounmpo had a left soleus strain. The soleus is a muscle in the calf.

The injury comes just as the Bucks are gearing up for the playoffs. The Bucks have three games remaining in the regular season.

Antetokounmpo has missed three games since mid-March with tendinopathy in his left hamstring. He also missed a game on March 4 with left Achilles tendinitis.

This had been just the fifth time in the last 30 games that the Bucks had Antetokounmpo, Lillard and Middleton all available.

Now they have to worry about how long it will take before all three are together on the floor again.

Rivers was asked after the game about his concern level.

“High, I would say that,” Rivers said. “He’s Giannis. I think everyone probably feels the same way as I do right now. We’re just going to hope for the best.”

The Bucks beat the Celtics Tuesday night 104-91. Milwaukee had six players in double figures led by Patrick Beverly’s 20 points and Giannis Antetokounmpko’s 17. Jason Tatum led Boston with 22.

The team’s combined for a record-low two free throws as Giannis went 1-2 in the first quarter.  The previous record for fewest combined attempts in a game was 11.

The Bucks host the Magic tonight with the tipoff at 7:00.

Christian Yelich and Blake Perkins each drove in three runs, helping Joe Ross and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-5 on Tuesday night. Perkins and Sal Frelick each had three of Milwaukee’s 13 hits. Jake Bauers had two RBIs.

Ross (1-0) earned his first big league win since June 29, 2021, for Washington against Tampa Bay. The 30-year-old right-hander allowed three runs, two earned, and five hits in 6 1/3 innings in his second start of the season.

Ross had his second Tommy John surgery in June 2022. He finalized a $1.75 million, one-year contract with the Brewers in December.

Tyler Stephenson had two hits and two RBIs for Cincinnati, which beat Milwaukee 10-8 on Monday night in the opener of the four-game series. Spencer Steer, Jake Fraley and Christian Encarnacion-Strand also had two hits apiece.

Reds starter Frankie Montas (2-1) went five innings, allowing three earned runs and six hits.

Yelich hit an RBI single in Milwaukee’s three-run third inning. He also had a two-run double in the fifth.

Perkins’ two-run single put the Brewers in front in the third. He singled in Frelick in the sixth to lift Milwaukee to a 6-1 lead.

Cincinnati closed to 9-3 on Stephenson’s two-run double in the seventh. Steer doubled in Fraley during a two-run eighth.

The Reds put two runners on in the ninth, but Abner Uribe struck out Will Benson, Encarnacion-Strand and Jeimer Candelario to end the game.

Brewers lefty Wade Miley makes his first start of the season on Wednesday against Reds right-hander Hunter Green (0-0, 2.53 ERA). First pitch is at 5:40 from Cincinnati.

Elsewhere in the NL Central Tuesday the Tigers beat the Pirates 5-3, the Cardinals shutout the Phillies 3-0 and the Cubs downed the Padres 5-1. Milwaukee is 7-3 and a game behind 9-3 Pittsburgh in the division.

The Ripon girls finished third of four schools with 62 points. Berlin won the meet with 90 points, followed by Winneconne, the Ripon and Waupun finished in fourth.

Nearly two years after crossing the pond and playing their first regular season game abroad, could the Packers find themselves playing outside the United States again in 2024?

NFL games in England and Germany have been a growing trend in recent years, though it hasn’t been a common one for the green and gold. Green Bay has only played one international match, with that game coming in London against the New York Giants in 2022.

However, it appears the team is optimistic about the idea of making history by potentially playing the first ever NFL game in South America this upcoming season.

While speaking with reporters Tuesday, Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy welcomed the idea of opening up the 2024 season in São Paulo, Brazil. It’s not the capital, but it is the largest city by population in the largest country in South America.

If it comes to fruition, the Packers would join the Philadelphia Eagles by playing in the first game on the continent. No official announcements have been made yet. Murphy said, “I anticipate a decision pretty soon.”

Reports say the Packers and Cleveland Browns are the two teams being considered to play the Eagles. The game would be played Week 1 of the season and is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6.  According to Murphy, the Packers are quite loved in Brazil.

Meanwhile Packers’ players, staff and alumni kicked off the annual Packers Tailgate Tour Tuesday. The five-day road trip will travel from Green Bay to southern Wisconsin to visit with fans and thank them in person for their support.

Along the route, the tour will visit schools, hospitals, businesses, retirement homes, event venues and community centers to present donations and giveaway items and visit with fans of all ages.

This year, current players Elgton Jenkins, Kenny Clark and Rasheed Walker will be on board and alumni players Bryan Bulaga, Mike Daniels and Alex Green will join, along with Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy.

Murphy says it’s a great opportunity to meet fans and for current players to be around former players.

Record-breaking Iowa star Caitlin Clark continued to collect awards in streaks on Tuesday as she won the John R. Wooden Award as the most outstanding women’s college basketball player for the second consecutive season.

Clark was named the Naismith National Player of the Year last week before her Hawkeyes played in the Women’s NCAA Tournament Final Four. Iowa defeated UConn in the semifinals before losing in the title game for the second straight year as South Carolina completed an undefeated championship season.

Clark, who will collect the award Friday in Los Angeles, led the country in scoring average (31.6 points per game) and assists (8.9 per game), the first player to finish atop both categories in consecutive seasons.

She broke the NCAA women’s career scoring record this season and became the greatest scorer, male or female, in NCAA Division I history, with 3,951 points to surpass Pete Maravich.

Clark also totaled 1,144 assists and 990 rebounds in her career, and her 28.42 scoring average and 548 3-pointers are Division I records. She broke the single-season marks with 201 3-pointers and 1,234 points this season.

There have been six other two-time winners of the Wooden Award Women’s Player of the Year: LSU’s Seimone Augustus (2005, ’06), Tennessee’s Candace Parker (2007, ’08), UConn’s Maya Moore (2009, ’11), Baylor’s Brittney Griner (2012, ’13), UConn’s Breanna Stewart (2015, ’16) and Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu (2019, ’20).

A three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year is headlining a charity golf event in Northeast Wisconsin this summer.

JJ Watt will be the guest of honor for the 39th annual U.S. Venture Open, the nation’s largest one-day charitable event dedicated to ending poverty.

Originally from Pewaukee, Watt is an alumni of UW-Madison and the winner of the 2017 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. He spent 10 seasons with the Houston Texans and two with the Arizona Cardinals. In addition to his football accolades, Watt has also established himself as a philanthropist, serving as the board president of the JJ Watt Foundation.

The U.S. Venture Open began in 1986 with 100 golfers and has expanded to 1,200 attendees representing more than 700 partners golfing at regional courses to raise money for programs that fight poverty. Funds raised support the Basic Needs Giving Partnership. Since the event’s inception, $56 million in grants have been provided to non-profit organizations throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

Officials say Watt will make an appearance the event and be interviewed at the dinner reception held for registered guests that evening.
