RASD SAFETY GRANT

The Ripon Area School District learned last week it was receiving a state grant of just under $300,000 to ensure the safety of the district’s students. The money is coming through the state’s Department of Public Instruction through bipartisan legislation known as the Safer Communities Act. District Superintendent Mary Whitrock says the funding is going to districts with higher needs in particular areas with a goal of supporting safe and healthy students. She says the funding will support staff safety training in the summer and data collection that will help them determine the needs of students and appropriate responses. Whitrock says they are excited to be receiving the funding and are grateful to the staff that helped them write the grant.

SENATOR FEYEN ON GOVERNOR’S TAX CUT VETOES

State Senator Dan Feyen expressed his disappointment with Governor Tony Evers vetoing of 3 legislative Republican Proposals to cut taxes for middle-class families. The state lawmaker from Fond du Lac said in a statement, “With a stroke of his veto pen, Governor Evers unilaterally decided that Wisconsinites don’t deserve a tax cut.” Feyen pointed out the state is projected to have a $3 billion surplus at the end of the budget cycle. He says holding $3 billion of taxpayer money hostage in Madison while inflation is ravaging the middle class is the definition of big government at work. Feyen says a budget surplus means the government has taken too much of Wisconsinites’ hard-earned money. Feyen says Republicans will keep fighting to get the $3 billion back to Wisconsin taxpayers.
