CITY OF MAYVILLE CLEARED OF CRIMINAL WRONGDOING IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Following a yearlong investigation the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has concluded that the City of Mayville may have been a victim of mismanagement and poor record keeping, but there has been no criminal wrongdoing. Among the complaints received was that nearly $700,000 in city money could not be located. Detectives found no evidence to prove mishandling of funds, but “inadequate record keeping made it impossible to complete a thorough analysis of city financing.” Their investigation was supplemented by an investigative report by the financial firm Sikich LLP into the sale of property and financial practices of the Mayville Community Development Authority. The firm concluded “staff trying to get a handle on prior financial transactions was stymied by poor record keeping.”  The sheriff’s office continues to investigate a complaint about alleged open meeting violations and procedural issues.

FDL MAN BOUND OVER FOR TRIAL ON CHILD PORN POSSESSION CHARGES

A Fond du Lac coffee shop owner suspected of possessing child pornography has been bound over for trial. Forty-one-year-old Andrew Enea was in Fond du Lac County court for a preliminary hearing Thursday. He is charged with 10 felony counts of possessing child pornography.  According to the criminal complaint investigators searched his home and business on March 18th. The searches stemmed from two Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigations.  Those investigations ultimately led to Enea’s home and business. Investigators allegedly found photos depicting child sex abuse on a computer in his living room. Enea made his initial court appearance Monday during which he posted a $25,000 cash bond. DODGE COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP AND DRUG BUST

Authorities arrested three Oshkosh residents last week for drug trafficking during a traffic stop in the City of Waupun. A Dodge County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over 53-year-old Jane Glunz (pictured) who showed signs of impairment. There was suspicious behavior. The Waupun Police Department and a Sheriff’s K9 Unit assisted. The K9 Cade gave an indication of illicit drugs in the vehicle. It was searched and deputies located a significant amount of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. Glunz, 48-year-old Shawn Lux, and 49-year-old Jeromy Mulvey were arrested on drug trafficking and additional charges. Glunz also faces her second operating while under the influence charge. RIPON PUBLIC LIBRARY IMPROVEMENTS

The Ripon Public Library continues its fundraising efforts for interior improvements to the library. Adult and Teen Services Librarian Susie Menk says they are getting closer to the $800,000 capital campaign goal. Interior improvements would be made in the children’s and adult area. She says they would like to expand the windows and add some meeting rooms on the upper level. Their meeting rooms are made good use of. Menk says they have a great view of Silver Creek and expanding the windows would be more aesthetically pleasing. They would also like to change around some of the books and book shelves. If they could put the shelves on wheels they could reconfigure the space for events. Menk says forms are available at the library for those who would like to make a donation. They also have plenty of information on their planned improvements.

BILL FUNDS PREMIUMS FOR FAIRS

One of the bills State Senator Joan Ballweg was involved with provides more funding for county and district fairs. The state lawmaker from Markesan says there wasn’t enough money to fund premiums for both county and district fairs so they provided more in the state budget for those efforts. She points out some counties also have smaller or district fairs for example in Alto, Elroy, and Lodi. She says the funding will help those fairs with costs for supplying ribbons and awards for the youth participating in showings at those fairs whether it is for livestock, crafts, or hobbies. She says after all most fairs are about getting youth to practice in those activities and pursuits. Senator Ballweg says kids should be recognized for their efforts in participating in those fairs.

NO SHAME IN ASKING FOR HELP

The Clinic provides temporary help for those suffering a mental health crisis. She says it is not always easy to recognize you are having a problem. If you are disinterested, lack motivation, or no longer participate in things you used to look forward to-you may be having mental health issues. She says sometimes you need to take a closer look. She says if you’re not sure give them a call at 920-745-3850 and if it is more immediate walk into the emergency department at Ripon Community Hospital and tell them you are there for the Behavioral Health Walk-In Clinic. Bayer says there is no shame in asking for help.
