3/26/24 Katie Grady Running for Ripon School Board

Katie Grady says having served as the head of the Governance Council for the Barlow Park Charter Elementary School she would like to continue giving back to the School District. That’s one of the reasons she is running for the School Board. She is a clinical social worker and mental health therapist at the Ripon Community Hospital. She is glad to see more of an emphasis on mental health and social/emotional learning in the schools. She says the stress kids go through today is different than what adults experienced when they were in school. She says through her work at the hospital she has also seen student apprentices interested in the nursing field and likes the internship opportunities high school students are getting. Grady says kids also have the chance to earn college credit while they are still in high school too. Another reason she is running for a seat on the school board is to provide support for the District’s teachers and staff. Five candidates are vying for four seats on the board.
