The “Mayor of Door County” is rumored to be coming back to the Pack.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, pending a physical, the Packers are going to resign RB Aj Dillon.
Dillon, who had been linked to teams like the Colts, Cowboys, and Giants, would instead return to the team that drafted him back in 2020. He would join a backfield that recently added former Raiders RB Josh Jacobs and could slot back into the 2nd RB role he occupied while Aaron Jones was with the team.
Dillon was a 2nd round pick out of Boston College and appeared in 60 games for the Packers in his previous 4 seasons, racking up 2,428 yards rushing and 16 TDs.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Milwaukee Bucks past the Philadelphia 76ers 114-105 on Thursday night.
Brook Lopez added 19 points and Damian Lillard had 17 for the Bucks who won at home after losing three of four on a West Coast swing, which included a 129-94 blow out against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
Tyrese Maxey scored 30 points for the 76ers, who closed out a 1-2 road trip.
The Bucks, who trailed 83-80 at the start of the fourth quarter, moved ahead 88-87 on a layup by Bobby Portis with 8:42 left and didn’t look back.
The Bucks were short-handed as starting guard Malik Beasley and reserve MarJon Beauchamp sat out with back spasms while Khris Middleton missed his 16th consecutive game with a sprained left ankle.
Philadelphia has been struggling to generate offense without their star, Joel Embiid. The 76ers have lost 13 of 20 without Embiid, who is recovering from a meniscus injury to his left knee. They were held to 79 points in splitting back-to-back games against the New York Knicks on Sunday and Tuesday, and reached that point total on Thursday with two minutes remaining in the third.
Philadelphia came out firing at the start, connecting on 11 of 20 shots, including 5 of 9 from 3-point range in the first quarter and ending with a 10-0 run.
The 76ers led by as many as 12 in the second. Cameron Payne, traded by Milwaukee to Philadelphia in February for Patrick Beverley, scored 11 points in the quarter, including three consecutive 3-pointers. Philadelphia led 61-53 at the half on 56% shooting from the field and 58% sniping from long distance.
Up next, the Bucks host Pheonix on Sunday.
Just as the Packers lost a familiar face at the safety position, they welcomed a new one.
On Thursday, the team officially announced the release of Darnell Savage and the signing of Xavier McKinney. Both moves were first reported Monday.
Savage, who was picked 21st overall by the Packers in the 2019 NFL Draft, just finished his rookie deal with Green Bay and played last season under the fifth-year option. He’s appeared in 72 career games, making 69 total starts and recording nine interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Meanwhile, the Packers confirmed Thursday the addition of a safety, who will look to help fill the spots Savage and Jonathan Owens left behind.
After a strong 2023 season, Xavier McKinney was widely considered the top player available in his position.
In his 49 career games, McKinney notched impressive numbers: 277 tackles (179 solo), 27 passes defensed, nine interceptions, six tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one defensive TD and two tackles on special teams.
