In Big Ten men’s basketball action tonight (Tues.) Wisconsin is at Indiana. The Badgers got back into the win column last Tuesday at home against Maryland with a 74-70 win. Wisconsin held off a late rally frm Maryland to secure the win, mking 11 of its final 12 free throws in the remaining 42 seconds of the game, to improve to 10-6 in the conference, tied for third, and 18-9 overall.

The Hoosiers enter the game 6-10 in the Big Ten and 14-13 overall, most recently suffering an 83-74 loss against Penn State on Saturday. However, at home Indiana has 10-5 record this season. Indiana ranks second to last in the Big Ten both on offense and defense.

The Milwaukee Bucks are back in action tonight hosting the Charlotte Hornets.  The Bucks are third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 37-2, a game behind the second place Cavaliers and 8 ½ games behind the first place Boston Celtics.

Tipoff is at 7:00.

In Cactus League baseball Monday the Reds downed the Brewers 8-3.  The game was tied at 2 at the end of 3 innings before Cincinnati scored 3 runs in the fifth, 2 more in the sixth and 1 in the seventh.

Milwaukee drops to 1-2 in spring training action and play the Angels today.

The Division III Tournament Selection show was held on Monday, and two area teams will be participating.

For the fifth time in program history, the UW-Oshkosh women’s basketball team will host the opening two rounds, receiving an at-large bid winning their 15th WIAC regular season title with a 12-2 record and finishing second in the conference tournament UW-Oshkosh (22-5) will face Webster University (27-0) in the first round at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Gustavus Adolphus College (25-2) will face off against Trine University (21-7), the winner of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association at 5 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, at 5 p.m., the first round winners will play to advance to the sectional rounds of the NCAA Championship, which will be held on March 8th.

The Ripon College Red Hawks are headed back to the Tournament for the third time in five seasons and the sixth time in program history.

Ripon swept the Midwest Conference (MWC) regular season and tournament titles this season to claim the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Ripon 19-8 (14-2 MWC) will meet Hope College (24-3, 15-1 MIAA) in a first-round matchup on Friday, March 1, at the DePauw University Neal Fieldhouse in Greencastle, Indiana.

The winner of Friday’s first round game will take on the winner of host DePauw University (21-7) and Berea College (24-3) on Saturday, March 2nd.

Now it is Houston’s turn at the top of The Associated Press Top 25 men’s college basketball poll.

The Cougars moved to No. 1 for the first time this season in Monday’s latest poll, climbing one spot to end the six-week stay of reigning national champion Connecticut. Houston (24-3) became the fifth team to hold the top spot this season.

Purdue rose one spot to No. 2, while the Huskies’ loss to Creighton dropped them to third in a poll that included South Florida cracking the rankings for the first time in program history.

Tennessee moved up a spot to No. 4 for its highest ranking of the season, followed by Marquette. Arizona, Kansas, Iowa State, North Carolina and Duke rounded out the top 10.
