The Packers put in requests to interview Baltimore assistants Dennard Wilson and Zach Orr for their current defensive coordinator opening, according to reports by the NFL Network.

As a unit, the Ravens defense was one of the best in the league this past season. Leading the NFL in yards per game, sacks, and yards per passing attempt. Baltimore also allowed just 18 touchdowns through the air during the regular season, which also led the NFL.

Wilson played a key role in the development of All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, and has become a hot commodity for teams looking for a new defensive coordinator. Interviewing with the Titans today, and interest from the Giants and Rams as well.

Orr played linebacker in Baltimore for three seasons before retiring and going into coaching in 2016. Originally hired as a defensive analyst in Baltimore, Orr returned as the Ravens’ inside linebackers coach following a season on the Jaguars staff.

They join former Rams head coach Brandon Staley, Broncos defensive backs coach Christian Parker, and Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde on the list of candidates for the job.

Green Bay asked for permission to interview Bobby Babich for the opening as well. He has been promoted to become the Bills’ defensive coordinator, according to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Tyler Kolek hit five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 32 points to lead No. 9 Marquette to its fifth straight win, 85-80 over Villanova on Tuesday night.

Kolek rallied the Golden Eagles (16-5, 7-3 Big East) after they squandered a 20-point lead. With the Wildcats on fumes after a 34-10 run gave them the lead, Kolek connected on four 3s that sparked the Golden Eagles

He hit two straight for a 56-51 lead. Kolek, already a 1,000-point career scorer, hit another 3 for a 62-56 lead and one more for a seven-point lead that helped Marquette hold on for the tough road win.

Kolek was 10 of 20 from the floor and 7 of 8 at the free-throw line.

TJ Bamba and Eric Dixon led Villanova (11-10, 4-6) with 24 points apiece. Dixon hit a late 3 that made it 81-78 with 38 seconds left, only for Kolak to seal the win from the foul line.

Once a national power with two national championships in the last decade, the Wildcats have lost five straight games for the first time since the end of the 2011 season.

The Golden Eagles have won three games on the road during their winning streak. Marquette plays Saturday at Georgetown.

The Packers did not have a single player selected to participate in this year’s Pro Bowl Games, but they will be represented. On Tuesday, the NFL named Kenny Clark as the replacement for the 49ers’ Javon Hargrave, who can’t participate due to San Francisco playing in the Super Bowl.

This is the 3rd Pro Bowl honor for Clark, who was an original selection in 2021 and an injury replacement in 2019. Clark is joins Pro Football Hall Of Famer Henry Jordan as the only Packers defensive tackles to make at least 3 Pro Bowls.

Clark racked up a career-high 7.5 sacks in 2023. He also led the team in tackles for loss with 9, and forced two fumbles while recording 3 passes defensed. He started every game for the third consecutive season. Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, and New England Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona as finalists for the 13th annual Salute to Service Award presented by USAA, the company announced Tuesday.

The Salute to Service Award is part of USAA and the NFL’s year-round commitment to U.S. military veterans and their families.

USAA says the 32 nominees from each NFL team were announced in November and consisted of active and retired players, coaches, and team executives and personnel who best demonstrated support for the military community.

The Salute to Service Award recipient will be recognized at the NFL Honors on Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas.

USAA will contribute $25,000 in the award recipient’s honor to the official aid societies representing each military branch. The NFL Foundation will match that donation, which will go directly to the recipient’s military charity of choice.

According to USAA, fans could vote for their favorite nominees again this year, and the finalists were ultimately decided based on this consensus vote of fans, an NFL internal committee, and USAA. Nominees were also evaluated on the positive impact of their efforts to support the military community.
