Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say a 19-year-old Hartford woman was killed during a traffic crash early Sunday morning that also resulted in injuries for four other occupants of the vehicle. The vehicle was traveling south on Highway 45 near Sandy Road in the Town of Auburn when it entered the west ditch striking a culvert. It overturned several times, and four of the five occupants were ejected during the crash. After being ejected from the vehicle the Hartford woman, who was operating the vehicle, was struck by another vehicle. She was dragged from the scene by the second vehicle. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies located her body three miles from the initial crash scene. Three others suffered serious life-threatening injuries and the fourth non-life-threatening injuries. The injured included a 16-year girl from Theresa who was taken to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, a 17-year-old man from West Bend who was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, a 17-year-old from Milwaukee who was taken to Froedtert in West Bend, and a 21-year-old from Iron Ridge who was taken to Aurora Medical Center Washington County. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash was reported at 1:10 am. It was the 19th traffic-related death in Fond du Lac County in 2023.
