12/28/23 Former Senator and Bucks Owner Herb Kohl Passes Away

28 December 2023 News

Former U.S. Senator and Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl passed away at the age of 88. The Herb Kohl Foundation, one of several philanthropic efforts of the late Senator, broke the news. The Foundation funds scholarships and other programs for students and teachers.  Kohl ran for the Senate in 1988 and served for 24 years. In 1985 he bought the Milwaukee Bucks promising the team would never leave.  Reacting to the news Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said, “A Milwaukeean and Wisconsinite through and through, U.S. Senator Herb Kohl dedicated his life to serving our kids, our communities, our state, and our country.” State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jill Underly also praised Kohl saying, “Herb was the very best friend to Wisconsin schools, educators, and kids.”
