Nikola Vucevic scored 29 points, Coby White added 23 and the short-handed Chicago Bulls beat the Milwaukee Bucks 120-113 in overtime on Thursday night.
Alex Caruso nailed a buzzer-beating 3 at the end of regulation, and Chicago pulled off a surprise without Zach LaVine (sore right foot) and DeMar DeRozan (sprained left ankle) because of injuries.
The Bulls trailed 110-109 in overtime when Vucevic cut for a dunk with 2:28 remaining, sparking an eight-point run. Patrick Williams finished the decisive spurt when he dunked with 31 seconds remaining, and Chicago hung on from there.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Brook Lopez scored 20, and Malik Beasley added 19 points. Damian Lillard scored 18, but the Bucks came up short after winning eight of nine.
Chicago led by 12 early in the fourth quarter after a 16-2 run. The Bucks pulled within two, only to find themselves trailing 103-96 with 1:26 remaining after White nailed a step-back 3, whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
But just when it looked as if the struggling Bulls might close it out, the Bucks answered.
Antetokounmpo cut for a dunk. Beasley and Lopez made back-to-back 3-pointers to put Milwaukee on top 104-103 with 21 seconds remaining. Antetokounmpo blocked Williams’ driving dunk with six seconds left and made two free throws. But Caruso sent the game to overtime with a fadeaway 3 at the buzzer.
Vucevic also had 10 rebounds. White nailed four 3-pointers, and the Bulls overcame 21 turnovers.
Milwaukee’s Andre Jackson Jr. exited with back tightness, and Pat Connaughton sat out because of a sprained right ankle. He left in the second quarter of a win over Miami on Tuesday.
The Bucks host the Hawks Saturday with the tip off at 7:00.
The Packers continue to get ready for Sunday Night Football at Lambeau Field against the Kansas City Chiefs. the Vikings. Meanwhile the Chiefs are 8-3 and in first place in the AFC West, two games ahead of the Broncos.
Green Bay again listed 15 players on their injured list. Running back Aaron Jones and wide receiver Jayden Reed did not practice for second straight day while CB Robert Rochell did not participate after seeing limited participation Wednesday.
The Chiefs listed eight players on the injured list.
The Packers (5-6) have won two straight, including an upset win at Detroit on Thanksgiving. A win would tie them with Minnesota for second place in the NFC North. The Chiefs lead the AFC West with an 8-3 record.
The pregame starts at 5:00 with the kickoff at 7:20 and can be heard on FM 1023, The Bug.
In Thursday Night Football Dallas held on at home to beat Seattle 41-35. Three late fourth-down stops sealed for the Cowboys.
Dallas led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter but Seattle took a 21-20 lead into halftime. Each team scored a touchdown in the third quarter but the Cowboys came up with two in the fourth quarter and then held on.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was 29-41 for 299 \ yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Cee Dee Lamb caught one and ended up with 12 receptions for 116 yards.
Seattle’s Gino Smith went 23 of 41 for 334 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. DK Metcalf caught all three touchdowns and had six receptions for 134 yards.
The Cowboys improve to 9-3 while the Seahawks fell to 6-6.
The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of a record setting deal with their top prospect, Jackson Chourio.
The extension would be for $80 million dollars over 8 years, with the team holding a club option for two years after that, according to a report by MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy. The two sides are still finalizing the financials of the deal, and Chourio will need to pass a physical.
The reason it’s historic? The deal would be the largest ever for a minor league prospect that has never played a game at the big league level. The previous record was Luis Robert Jr.’s $50 million contract with the White Sox.
There have only been five other contract extensions signed by prospects with zero years of MLB service time.
The now 19-year-old outfielder only played in six games with the Brewers Triple-A club in Nashville at the end of the season. Chourio finished with 22 home runs and 43 stolen bases last year, but mostly with Double-A Billoxi.
Chouri has an .837 OPS over his three minor league seasons, which includes hitting 8 home runs and 24 RBIS in his 31 games with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2022.
