20 October 2023 Sports

The Packers continue to get ready for the Broncos Sunday in Denver.  Green Bay (2-3) is coming off its bye week and go up against a Denver team that is 1-5.

The Packers have been preaching getting off to a fast start offensively and are hoping to have running back Aaron Jones back.  He’s missed much of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in the Atlanta game.  So far this week, he’s seen limited participation practice.  The other key to the offense is seeing bigger plays out of quarterback Jordan Love and his young receivers.

Guard/tackle Elgton Jenkins is still  hampered with a knee injury.

On the defensive side cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (back) and Eric Stokes (foot) saw limited practice Thursday along with safety’s Darnell Savage (calf) and Zayre Anderson (hamstring). Also seeing limited action was linebacker Quay Walker (knee) and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt (knee).

The only player on the team’s injury list who did not practice Thursday was linebacker De Vondre Campbell who has an ankle injury.

Sunday’s kickoff is at 3:25 with the pregame starting at 1:00 and can be heard on FM 1023, The Bug.

In Thursday Night Football Jacksonville won at New Orleans 31-24.  The Jaguars led 17-6 at the half and added touchdowns in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  The Saints scored 15 points in the 4th quarter to make it close.

Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Terry Stotts is stepping down just months after agreeing on a contract, ESPN is reporting. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report Stotts’s resignation.

Stotts has a storied history with the Bucks, as an assistant coach in 1998, head coach in 2005, fired in 2007. He later was head coach of the Portland Trailblazers for 9 years, until 2021.

After two years away from the NBA, Stotts agreed to join the staff of first-year head coach Adrian Griffin in June.

A week ago, the Bucks traded to get the Trailblazers’ seven-time All-Star guard Damian Lillard, who Stotts coached for 9 years.
