FEDERAL BUDGET BORROWING
Congressman Glenn Grothman says nearly a quarter of the money in the federal budget is borrowed. The federal lawmaker says that’s something to ponder as they are working on the Federal Budget. He says 22 percent of the budget is borrowed. He says with the economy and inflation not so bad right now they should be trying to work their way out of debt. Grothman intends to take a tough stance on any excessive spending or new spending because of all the money they are already borrowing. The Federal Fiscal Year begins on October 1st, but Congressman Grothman points out Congress usually doesn’t complete work on the Federal Budget until after the end of the calendar year.
TRUST IMPORTANT FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS
For Ripon School Resource Officers Lindsey Michels and Brad Rasmussen one of the important roles they have is making sure kids feel comfortable coming to them when they are worried about a situation or feel threatened. Officer Michels says they may not be able to help out a student with their problem but will make sure they connect them with the right resource or person. Officer Rasmussen says they also try to teach kids about being responsible on the Internet and with social media. He says cyber bullying goes on, but there are other threats on social media about doing harm to others and they want to make sure students feel safe to report them whether they are real or just perceived.
