Clintonville Police say a 19-year-old man is suspected of stabbing a 39-year-old Neenah woman while the two were driving on Memorial Circle Monday afternoon. The woman was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center where she died. The suspect Jordan Peters had recently moved to Clintonville from Neenah and the woman was visiting him. While the two were in a car together Peters who was in the front passenger seat allegedly stabbed the woman in the chest. She was able to pull over and get out of the car. Police were called. Officers found the victim on the ground with stab wounds. Peters allegedly told them he had stabbed her and he was arrested and was taken to the Waupaca County Jail. Peters has not been charged yet but he is booked in the jail on suspicion of first degree intentional homicide. A judge set his bond at $1 million cash and he will make an initial court appearance next Monday. Clintonville Police Chief Craig Freitag says it is Clintonville’s first homicide since 2016.

RIPON MAN FACING CHILD ABUSE AND SUBSTANTIAL BATTERY CHARGES

A 47-year-old Ripon man is facing charges for allegedly knocking his ex-wife out and then physically attacking their 15-year-son. According to the criminal complaint it happened last Friday night in a grassy field across from a residence on Fenton Street. Although the couple had been divorced Timothy Tress had been living with his ex-wife since June. Tress’s trailer was located in the grassy field. He then got into a physical altercation with his son knocking him to the ground. He was trying to hit the teen when a neighbor became involved and put Tress in a headlock.  The woman and her son were taken to Ripon Community Hospital where they were treated for bumps on their heads, and numerous scrapes, cuts and bruises. Tress has been charged with child abuse intentionally causing harm, substantial battery, disorderly conduct, and felony bail jumping.  In January he was convicted of felony bail jumping in Green Lake County and has an open OWI case in Fond du Lac County from 2021.

TERRORISTS AT THE BORDER

Congressman Glenn Grothman says among the illegal immigrants attempting to cross our southern borders are known terrorists. The FBI investigated after more than a dozen migrants from Uzbekistan and other countries were allowed into the US after they sought asylum at the southern border with Mexico. Those migrants were helped by a smuggler with ties to ISIS. No specific ISIS plot was identified. Congressman Glenn Grothman says that still set off security concerns in the U.S. intelligence community. He says the other issue is that we have a difficult time deporting immigrants who are committing crimes in our country. The federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah says 244 known terrorists attempted to cross the border illegally in this Fiscal Year so far and no one knows how many snuck in successfully.

RIPON PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM ON PTSD

The Ripon Public Library will be presenting an adult learning series over the next three months. The first program is next Monday, September 11th at 6 pm in the Silver Creek Room and it is about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. It will present two perspectives on PTSD. One of those is from local author Karl Stewart whose book Up Harvey’s Creek is about dealing with PTSD. Stewart, his father, and grandfather all suffered from PTSD from their military service. Adult and Teen Services Librarian Susie Menk says you don’t have to be a veteran to suffer from PTSD. She says one of the reasons the presentation is on 9/11 is because a lot of people suffered from PTSD in the fallout from that event. The other presenter is retired psychology professor Joe Hatcher who will talk about various treatment programs for PTSD. There will be a Q & A session. There is no cost to attend.
