9/19/23 Missing Wautoma Man Found Dead

A missing Wautoma man was found dead in Meilke Lake in Waushara County’s Town of Dakota late Sunday night. The Sheriff’s Office received information that there was a suspicious object in the lake. Deputies arrived on the scene and confirmed it was Patrick Morehead, a man who had been missing from the Wautoma area since September 11th. The Waushara County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Morehead was believed to be driving a vehicle east on Cottonville Lane east of State Highway 22 prior to September 11th when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.
