8/29/23 Paraglider Crashes in FDL County Cornfield

A 34-year-old Fond du Lac man was seriously injured when the engine on his paraglider failed and he crashed in a cornfield Monday evening near Highway 151 and County Road K in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Taycheedah. The County’s Communication Center got a 911 call from the man at 5:43 pm saying he may have broken both of his legs. Using GPS Technology deputies were able to locate the man 75 yards into a cornfield. A nearby resident used a farm tractor to knock down stalks of corn to clear a path for first responders. ThedaStar flew the man to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with significant injuries. The man was wearing a helmet. Witnesses reported observing the man lose altitude over the cornfield after hearing the engine sputtering. Investigators say engine failure does appear to be a factor in the crash.
