8/27/23 Multiple County Vehicle Chase Ends in Two Arrests

27 August 2023 News

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say two women are being held in the County Jail on charges following a multiple county vehicle chase Saturday night. It started when Waupaca County Sheriff’s officials put out information about a vehicle that had been stolen in the state of Illinois and had entered into Winnebago County on Highway 10.  While watching for the stolen vehicle Fond du Lac County deputies learned the vehicle had been involved in an armed robbery in the Plover area. The vehicle was spotted on Interstate 41 and stop sticks were successfully deployed but the vehicle continued south on I-41 into Dodge and Washington counties. Ultimately it lost control on Interstate 41 south of State Highway 33 and crashed into a median cable barrier. Thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise and narcotics were found in the vehicle. The driver, a 37-year-old Milwaukee woman, was out on bond for felony retail theft as a repeater charge in Waukesha County. Charges she faces in Fond du Lac County include fleeing an officer, second degree reckless endangering safety, operating without owner’s consent, felony retail theft, felony bail jumping, and traffic violations. The passenger, a 31-year-old Wauwatosa woman is also facing charges including possession of marijuana, cocaine, fentanyl, and illegally obtained prescriptions. The chase covered 34 miles during which two Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s squad cars sustained minor damage and two civilian vehicles sustained minor damage when they ran over stop sticks.
