7/4/23 Waupun Firefighters Respond to Fire

Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says carless use of smoking materials was likely the cause of a fire at W6922 Redwood Road in the Town of Chester on Saturday morning. Fire crews were dispatched for smoke filling an upstairs bedroom. They found a mattress and blanket smoldering in the bedroom. They quickly removed the mattress from the home and extinguished it. Crews remained on the scene for about 2 hours working on fire suppression and overhaul. No one was injured during the blaze. Damage to the home was limited to smoke damage. Six fire departments, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Lifestar Ambulance, and Alliant Energy also assisted on the call.
