7/19/23 Charges Filed in Ripon Drug Overdose Death

RIPON POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
(7/18/23): Today, after a 3 ½ month investigation, four Ripon residents and one resident of Monroe, WI have been charged for their involvement in the death of an 18 year-old Ripon man on Friday, April 7, 2023.
The 21-count criminal complaint filed with Fond du Lac County Courts allege the defendants provided the victim with fentanyl-laced narcotics, observed the victim overdose, failed to provide or call for medical assistance, and then left the victim’s body on the sidewalk on Scott Street at Stanton Street in the City of Ripon. During search warrants conducted at various residences, other narcotics and paraphernalia were located.

According to Ripon Police Chief William Wallner, every officer at the department was involved in some way with this case, and acknowledged their hard work and dedication to bring the case to conclusion. Chief Wallner said, “The victim in this case was a son, a friend, and a community member. I hope the efforts of the Ripon Police Department staff to investigate his death and bring those responsible to justice, will help bring closure and healing to his family and friends.”
