7/1/23 High Risk Traffic Stop Ends High Speed Chase

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 21-year-old Oshkosh man following a high-speed chase in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties early this morning. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the vehicle on Interstate 41 near County Highway Y in the Town of Byron when it was clocked going 120 miles per hour. The chase continued into Dodge County and ended with a high-risk traffic stop on Butternut Road at State Highway 67. The man damaged the vehicle when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the “T” intersection of Drumlin Drive and State Highway 67. The man hit the south ditch of State Highway 67 while trying to complete a right turn. No other property was damaged and there were no injuries. A Sheriff’s K-9 detected drug use in the vehicle. The man was arrested for knowingly fleeing an officer, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-2nd offense, and 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety. He was also cited for other miscellaneous traffic violations. Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies and the State Patrol assisted in the high-risk traffic stop.
