6/18/23 SSM Health Beaver Dam Physical/Occupational Services Mark One Year of Care
18 June 2023 News
It’s been a year since SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac started offering physical and occupational therapy services at the SSM Health Beaver Dam physician offices in Beaver Dam.
David Stuebe and Emilee Miller currently serve as physical therapists with Allison Zimmerman offering occupational therapy services.
Physical therapy services offer orthopedic services – back/neck pain, arm/leg pain or dysfunction, foot/ankle pain, sports injuries, injury prevention – headaches, employee injury care, and pre/post-operative rehab. Neurological rehab care is also available for debility/weakness, balance problems and fall prevention, and gait training.
Occupational therapy services assist with upper extremity rehab – wrist/hand fractures, shoulder and elbow injuries, tendon/nerve lacerations, overuse injuries/repetitive motion, crush injuries, splint fabrication – and cognitive retraining.
Stuebe has been practicing physical therapy for 28 years, spending most of that time working with orthopedic and neurologic patients in the outpatient setting.
“I see myself as part of a larger team of providers, working collectively to find the best treatment to promote the health and well-being of each patient,” Stuebe says. “I especially enjoy educating my patients on their condition, treatment options, and strategies that they can implement to facilitate healing. I am excited for the opportunity to practice in Beaver Dam, a community I’ve considered my home away from home for many years while my sons played sports locally. Away from work, I enjoy hiking, camping, watching sports, and spending time with my family.”
Miller serves as a board-certified physical therapist with experience in restoring function in orthopedic and neurologic patients in the outpatient setting. She graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
“I create individualized treatment plans for each patient to optimize healing following surgical intervention, injury, or neurological event to facilitate health and well-being,” according to Miller. “I am a strong believer in providing patient education to help individuals understand where their symptoms are coming from and how the activities performed in therapy will address their unique needs. I am happy to serve the community of Beaver Dam.”
Zimmerman is a board-certified occupational therapist with a treatment focus on upper extremity orthopedic dysfunction, custom upper extremity orthosis fabrication, and neurological dysfunction. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Sioux Falls and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
“My goal is to create an individualized plan for each patient to optimize healing following injury, illness, surgical intervention, or neurological event to restore functional performance in any valued daily activity,” Zimmerman explains. “I look forward to serving the Beaver Dam area, a community close to my hometown of Randolph.”
The therapy area features four treatment rooms, and a 1,252-square-foot combined physical therapy gym and treatment room separated by a half wall. The open concept features floor to ceiling windows for natural lighting, a drop ceiling to help with noise reduction, and matches the calming environment throughout the existing clinic building.
Patients benefit from all new, state-of-the-art equipment, including treadmill, stepper, elliptical, parallel bars, and a multi-faceted strengthening system.
