6/17/23 Fatal Motorcycle Accident in the Town of Ripon

17 June 2023 News

A 48-year-old Pickett man was killed late Friday night when his motorcycle hit a deer on State Highway 23 near Silver Creek Road in the Town of Ripon. Witnesses told Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials, the man identified as James Robert Davis, was thrown from his bike into the roadway. Davis was subsequently struck by a driver who hadn’t seen the prior collision. Deputies, Ripon Police, Town of Ripon Police, and Ripon Guardian Ambulance responded to the scene. EMS personnel and Good Samaritans who witnessed the crash provided lifesaving efforts, but Davis died at the scene. He was heading west when he hit the deer. The 51-year-old Ripon man driving the vehicle that hit him was also westbound. Davis was not wearing a helmet. Investigators say neither speed nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the secondary crash. The accident was reported at 11:35 Friday night.
