5/7/23 Senator Ballweg Receives Scales of Justice Award

Waupaca… Senator Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) was awarded the “Scales of Justice” Award from the State Bar of Wisconsin Legislative Oversight Committee on Friday, April 28, 2023. The State Bar presented Senator Ballweg with this award for her work on family and child law-related issues.
“I am honored to be awarded the Scales of Justice,” said Ballweg. “I enjoy working on legislation that helps enrich the lives of families and children across the state, and addressing issues they face as they navigate the justice system.”
The State Bar of Wisconsin’s Legislative Oversight Committee noted that Senator Ballweg was awarded the Scales of Justice Award for her work and support of legislation in the 2021 session that helps families save time, money and stress. Legislation the State Bar noted in their recognition of Senator Ballweg included 2021 Wisconsin Act 259 which requires an annual exchange of financial information to help determine family support, child support or maintenance and 2021 Wisconsin Act 20 made modifications to legal custody or physical placement contingent upon a future event.
The State Bar of Wisconsin commended Senator Ballweg for her support of family law policies that will help citizens of Wisconsin navigate the court system, which can be complicated and intimidating. Senator Ballweg will continue to advocate for families and children of Wisconsin in her work in the state legislature.
