19 May 2023 News

A 27-year-old Fond du Lac woman has been charged with two counts of providing alcohol to a minor-resulting in death.  Charges stem from Sanju Paudel allegedly selling two 30-packs of Busch Light and a bottle of Captain Morgan’s rum to two teens on January 20th of this year. Both 16-year-old boys Tommy Koenigs and Nevins Zoch died from injuries suffered when their vehicle crashed into a tree on Golf Course Drive in the Town of Taycheedah early the next morning. According to the criminal complaint a 16-year-old Fond du Lac High School student who was also in the vehicle survived the crash. She called 911. She told investigators she believes they were doing 80 miles an hour when they went off the road and crashed into a tree. They had been at an underage drinking party prior to the accident. Autopsy results showed both Koenigs and Zoch were intoxicated. Video from the gas station store Paudel worked at showed her selling the alcohol to both boys without checking for identification. During yesterday’s hearing Fond du Lac County Judge Laura Lavey set Paudel’s bond at $25,000 cash, which Paudel posted. Judge Lavey also ordered her to surrender her passport. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd.
