FDL MAN MAKES INITIAL DODGE COUNTY COURT APPEARANCE ON FLEEING CHARGE

A 24-year-old Fond du Lac man who allegedly ran from Mayville Police after a traffic stop made his initial appearance in Dodge County Court Monday. Evan Clark is charged with fleeing from an officer, resisting or obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia for the incident on April 6th.  Clark was pulled over on Highway 28 after speeding past a semi-truck and squad car in a no passing zone. Clark failed to cooperate with the officer who stopped him, taking off when the two wrestled over the vehicle’s keys. He sped away driving through backyards before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was found a short time later near the Rock River. At gunpoint he allegedly refused commands and jumped into the cold river. But the frigid temperatures caused him to give up. Bond was set at $500 cash during this week’s hearing and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 15th.

COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST WINNEBAGO COUNTY JUDGE

An official complaint has been filed against Winnebago County Circuit Court Judge Scott Woldt alleging misconduct. Attorney Matthew Goldin claims a discussion he had with the judge was “threatening.”  Judge Woldt was investigated before. He faced a seven days suspension in 2021 after the Wisconsin Supreme Court determined he violated rules while presiding over six separate cases that dated back to 2009. Goldin is an attorney with more than 30 years of experience. Goldin alleges during a social gathering last month Judge Woldt pulled him aside and threatened retaliation because Goldin supported Woldt’s opponent in the last election. Woldt allegedly told him there would be “ramifications.” Goldin feared the consequences would be to both him and his clients.  The complaint alleges the Judge told Goldin he could make things right by writing out a check to the Judge for $28,000 to pay for his judicial campaign. The next day Goldin asked the Wisconsin Judicial Commission to do a formal investigation into Judge Woldt’s conduct.

ROSENDALE BRANDON SUMMER SCHOOL RETURNS TO JUNE

The Rosendale-Brandon School District will be offering summer school this summer. District Superintendent Wayne Weber says it will run from June 12th through July 13th with no classes on July 3rd and 4th. For a few years they didn’t offer it until July and it ran into August in an effort to combat the summer slide in learning. However, parents and staff asked to have it moved back to begin in June running Monday through Thursdays of those weeks. It will be from 8 am to noon those days for a total of 18 days. Weber says by having summer school in June and early July it allows families to still take summer vacations or enjoy longer weekend trips. Registration for the district’s summer school was cut off in March.
