4/14/23 Update on Ripon Death Investigation

Recapping the previous release,  On Friday April 07, 2023, At approximately 6:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Scott St. and Stanton St. for a report of a subject lying on the sidewalk in that area. On arrival, officers found a deceased male subject, who was identified as an 18 year old Ripon resident. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that a drug overdose may have been involved in the death of this subject. As the investigation continued information identified a possible location and suspects that may have been involved in this death.

On April 11, 2023 Officers served a search warrant at a residence located on Scott St. in the City of Ripon.  During that search, evidence of narcotics use and additional information was developed about the circumstances in this case. At this location a 21 year old male Ripon resident was taken into custody on a probation hold and is currently in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail. A 17 year old female is also an occupant of this residence.

On April 13th Officers conducted additional Search warrants at two more residences, one located in the City of Ripon, and the second in Fond du Lac County.

On April 13th, Officers took into custody, a 15 year old Fond du Lac County resident, and a 16 year old City of Ripon resident, for their role in this death. Both of those subjects are being held at the Fond du Lac County Juvenile Detention Facility.

According to the information gained in this investigation, the allegations concerning this investigation are that; on April 06, the 15 year old , 16 year old, and 18 year old victim went to the Scott St. residence and engaged in narcotics use. Some of the narcotics were supplied by the juveniles. While at the residence, the 18 year old victim began to experience overdose type signs from the use of narcotics, and eventually became unresponsive. Several of the subjects at the residence, took the victim outside of the house and placed him outside, they then fled, and left the victim at that location. The victim was found deceased the morning of Friday April 07.  near this location.

Investigators are referring charges to the District Attorney’s office and/or Juvenile Court on all subjects involved in this incident which could include;  Reckless Homicide, Party to the Crime of Reckless Homicide, Keeping/Maintain a Drug House, Obstructing an Officer, Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics with the intent to deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

More details may become available once charges are filed and criminal complaints are issued.
