The Brewers opened up their weekend series at San Diego last night with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings. Rowdy Telez hammered a two-run homer in the first inning to get the Brewers started. It was his third of the season and Mike Brosseau hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth. The score was tied at 3 until Milwaukee pushed across the winning run in the top of the 10th.
Brewers starter Colin Rea pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits, while striking out six and walking one. Devin Williams (2-0) pitched the 10th and picked up the win.
The teams play again tonight as left-hander Eric Lauer starts for Milwaukeea against San Diego right-hander Michael Wacha. First pitch is at 8:40 CDT.
Elsewhere in the NL Central Thursday, the Reds beat the Phillies 6-2, and the Pirates shutout the Cardinals 5-0
Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer says Khris Middleton practiced fully Thursday as the three-time All-Star works his way back from a sore right knee and prepares for the playoffs.
Middleton hasn’t played since the injury caused him to exit an April 5th victory over the Chicago Bulls. He missed 18 straight games due to right knee soreness from Dec. 17 through Jan. 21.
The injury is unrelated to the one that ended Middleton’s 2021-22 postseason early. He missed the Bucks final 10 playoff games last season due to a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
Budenholzer also said guards Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton practiced on a limited basis as they both recover from sprained right ankles. Allen missed the Bucks’ final four regular-season games and Connaughton was out the last three.
The Bucks had the NBA’s best regular-season record to guarantee themselves home-court advantage throughout their playoff run. They open their first-round series Sunday at home against either the Bulls or the Miami Heat who will face each other in a play-in game Friday at Miami.
In the other NBA Play-In Tournament game tonight Oklahoma City plays at Minnesota.
Washington Commanders owners Dan and Tanya Snyder have reached a preliminary nonexclusive agreement to sell the storied NFL franchise to a group led by Josh Harris, who also co-owns teams in the NBA and NHL, for a record $6.05 billion, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
The nonexclusive deal is fully financed but not signed, meaning another group could still come in and buy the team. Any deal also has to be submitted and approved by league owners.
A group led by Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos is still involved in the sales process, a source told ESPN.
