Steven Crowl and Tyler Wahl each scored 21 points, Chucky Hepburn scored all his 12 points in the second half, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute, and Wisconsin kept alive its chances for an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament with a 71-67 win over Minnesota Sunday night.
Wahl was 8-of-11 shooting and Crowl made 9 of 13 from the field. Connor Essegian added 11 points for Wisconsin (17-13, 9-11 Big Ten).
Ta’lon Cooper stole the ball, went the other way for layup and hit the and-1 free throw for Minnesota to make it 62-all with 2:30 to play. Hepburn, near the top of the key, stepped around a screen from Wahl and drilled a contested step-back 3-pointer to give the Badgers the lead for good with 47 seconds left.
Max Klesmit and Wahl combined to go 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in the closing seconds to seal it for Wisconsin.
Dawson Garcia scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting for Minnesota (8-21, 2-17) and Braeden Carrington added 11 points and eight rebounds. Joshua Ola-Joseph scored 10 points and Cooper fouled out with eight points and eight assists.
The Golden Gophers shot 60% before intermission — their best shooting half of the season — and had 13 assists on 15 made field goals as they took a 39-26 lead when Jamison Battle hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Minnesota made 25 of 48 from the field and shot better than 50% in a game for just the second time this season. The Golden Gophers shot 55.1% (27 of 49) in a 72-54 win over St. Francis (N.Y,) on Nov. 11.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 23 points, had a season-high 13 assists and rebounded his intentionally missed shot with a second left for his fourth-triple double of the season as the NBA-leading Milwaukee Bucks beat the Washington Wizards 117-111 on Sunday night.
Jevon Carter added 20 points while shooting 6 of 10 from beyond the arc, and Jrue Holiday scored 19 in Milwaukee’s victory a night after a home loss to Philadelphia snapped a 16-game win streak.
It was just about over when Antetokounmpo dribbled to the basket and lightly tossed the ball off the backboard to himself for his 10th rebound.
The Bucks made 22 of their 49 attempts beyond the arc, the most allowed by the Wizards this season, while moving 1 1/2 games in front of Boston for first in the Eastern Conference.
Bradley Beal scored 33 points for the Wizards, who remain 10th in the East and in line for the final play-in tournament spot. Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points and 14 rebounds for Washington, which lost for the second time at home in two nights.
The Bucks visit Orlando on Tuesday.
In Cactus League baseball Sunday Seattle beat Milwaukee 6-1. The loss drops the Brewers spring record to 4-6. Milwaukee is off today but is back in action Tuesday against the White Sox.
On the men’s PGA Tour Kurt Kitayama won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida, for his first win on the tour. He finished 9 under, one stroke ahead of Rory McIlroy and Harris English.
In Nascar Sunday William Byron won the Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Tube in Las Vegas. Kyle Larson finished second followed by Alex Bowman. Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell to round out the top five.
In G-League basketball Saturday the Windy City Bulls beat the Wisconsin Herd 120-102 at the Oshkosh Arena. The Herd will play the Lakeland Magic in Orlando, Florida Tuesday night.
