1 March 2023 News
No one was injured and no property was damaged when an 18-year-old Oshkosh man led Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies and a Rosendale Police Officer on two separate high-speed chases Tuesday evening. The first pursuit occurred when a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle going 100 miles an hour on Highway 151 near Highway 49 in the Town of Waupun. The suspect’s vehicle began driving north in the southbound lanes of Highway 151 as it neared the Highway 26 interchange causing several other vehicles to take evasive action. The deputy cut off the pursuit after getting the license plate and owner information on the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle continued driving at a high speed and unsafely passed other vehicles as it headed north on Highway 26. A Rosendale Police Officer took up the chase as it entered the Village of Rosendale. Two nearby Sheriff’s deputies joined that pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle went into a ditch and became disabled in a farm field. The suspect fled on foot and was ultimately taken into custody when Sheriff’s K9 “Rip” tracked him to some outbuildings. Dane County authorities wanted the Oshkosh man on four separate felony cases. He is also facing two felony counts of fleeing an officer, first degree reckless endangering safety, resisting an officer, felony bail jumping charges and several traffic violations for the 7.5 mile pursuit in Fond du Lac County.
