2/4/23 Early Morning Car Chase in FDL County
4 February 2023 News
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy suffered possible injuries from deployment of airbags in his squad car after using it to stop a fleeing suspect’s vehicle early Saturday morning. The suspect, a 35-year-old Oshkosh man, was originally pulled over on Johnson Street at Pioneer Road in the City of Fond du Lac for having license plates that didn’t match and were suspended. The deputy suspected the driver was impaired and lying about who he was. The driver took off leading the deputy on a 15 mile chase that went through the city on Johnson Street and out of it heading east on State Highway 23. After the suspect’s vehicle was forced off the highway he fled on foot and the deputy had to use a stun gun to take him into custody. The suspect was taken to a local hospital to be medically cleared. Afterwards he was charged with felony eluding, 2 counts of resisting, second degree reckless endanger safety, bail jumping, and was cited for OWI second offense, operating after revocation, failure to install an ignition interlock device, and speeding.
