One teen was killed, and two others injured when a vehicle went off Golf Course Drive in the Fond du Lac County’s Town of Taycheedah early Saturday morning and struck a tree. Sheriff’s deputies, Mount Calvary Fire and Ambulance were dispatched just before 3:30 am to the scene east of Taft Road. A 16-year-old boy from Eldorado, a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene. The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Mount Calvary, was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. A 16-year-old girl from Fond du Lac who was a back seat passenger was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Investigators say the vehicle was heading west on Golf Course Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control, entered the north shoulder and struck a tree. Speed and alcohol are contributing factors. Officials at Laconia High School, St. Mary’s Springs Academy, and Fond du Lac High School were notified so they can assist students as needed.
