From Wayne Mausser

The Wisconsin Badgers basketball game against Northwestern will not be played this Saturday due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Wildcats program.

Northwestern already had to postpone their game against Iowa earlier this week It is unclear how many players have been impacted, but league reules require at least seven players to be available to play any game.

Northwestern and Wisconsin are currently working with the Big Ten Conference to find another time to play the game in Eveanston, Ill. They will honor any tickets for the game once it is rescheduled.

The Badgers next game is now Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Maryland. Tip-off between the Badgers and Terrapins is set for 6 p.m. CT.

A career high best 24 points from redshirt freshman Brock Heffner but Green Bay men’s basketball fell to Youngstown State 86-70 in the Resch Center and losing streak extended to 10.  Youngstown State went on a 25-4 run to start the 2nd half which included an eight minute scoring drought for Green Bay to take a 31 point advantage.  Five different Phoenix players scored to whittle the gap down to as low as 14 before a last-second tip-in by YSU resulted left an 86-70 final.

Four days after a wild-card loss to the New York Giants ended their season, the Minnesota Vikings announced they’ve ended defensive coordinator Ed Donatell’s tenure with the club. Donatell was fired after one season on Thursday by the Vikings.

Donatell’s dismissal is hardly a surprise. The longtime NFL assistant came under fire throughout much of his first season in Minnesota and that blaze only grew hotter after the Vikings’ 31-24 loss Sunday in which Giants quarterback Daniel Jones carved up the Minnesota defense and led an effort that collected 431 yards of offense.

The Bucks are  back in action Saturday at Cleveland against the Cavaliers.  Milwaukee hopes to have Giannis Antetokounmpo back after missing four games with knee soreness.  Jrue Holiday has  picked up the slack and has scored 35 and 37 points respectively in the last two games.  The Bucks beat the Raptors 130-122 Tuesday night.
