Dodge County Board Vacancy

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors is filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Dan Hilbert. He represented District 29 which consists of Wards 5 through 8 in the city of Beaver Dam. Hilbert told county leaders in a letter that he is moving to the south for the winter months and feels being away that long will interfere with his activities on the board. Hilbert also said he enjoyed his time on the board. His term runs through April 16th of 2024. Those interested in applying for the seat should sent a letter of interest to Board Chairperson Dave Frohling at 127 East Oak Street, Juneau, Wisconsin 53039 by Monday, December 19th.  Frohling will appoint a replacement that needs to be confirmed by the Board of Supervisors.

Lights Of Love

The SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary is raising funds with their 35th annual “Lights of Love” program that runs through the end of the month. For a gift of $5 or more people can purchase a light for a living memorial or tribute to friends, relatives or dedicated citizens of the community. Bobbie Pollesch of the Auxiliary says proceeds from this year’s program will help to fund a cardiac ultrasound probe which can be used by anesthetists to perform in-depth cardiac assessments prior to surgery. It can also be used in the emergency department to quickly evaluate life-threatening injuries. She says the lights go on a tree in front of the hospital that was specifically donated for that purpose when the new hospital was built. Those who purchase the lights over the next few days will be listed in next week’s edition of the Ripon Commonwealth Press. They will also be listed in a book kept at the hospital.  Donations forms are available at the hospital information desk and gift shop.  The tree was lit yesterday for the first time this season.

A busy weekend at the Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake continues with two more concerts. Tonight at 7:30 Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band performs. Saturday night brings Robin Spielberg’s Spirit of the Holiday. She is a Steinway Artist and composer. Thanks to a grant from Arts Midwest, at some point choir students from the Green Lake schools will join Robin on stage. Avery says that lends itself to the music of the season. Those attending are also asked to support the Green Lake Food Pantry by dropping off items in the Thrasher Lobby. Items needed are peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits or veggies, pasta, cereals, soups, tuna, juice & paper products. Donations of cash or checks are also appreciated.
