Ecstasy Pills May Have Contained Fentanyl
Taking over $27,000 worth of MDMA or ecstasy off the streets was a big drug bust for the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office last Thursday night during a traffic stop on Interstate 41. Smaller quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, illegally possessed prescription medications, and various items of paraphernalia, and the vehicle were also seized. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says it was good work by one of their Sheriff’s deputies and his K9. But more importantly those 900 pills could have contained the deadly drug fentanyl which the pills are being tested for. Three people were arrested during the traffic stop on I-41 near County Highway N.

Boys and Girls Club Of The Tri-County Area Holiday Telethon Tomorrow
The Boys and Girls Club of the Tri-County Area have set an ambitious goal for their 3rd Annual Holiday Telethon Thursday. Special Events and Marketing Director Ashley Bartol says they started the telethon in 2020 because it was difficult to raise funds during the height of the pandemic. That year they raised over $10,000, last year over $20,000, and this year hope to raise more than $50,000. She says they get some help from employers who match what their employees give and they also take pledges. She says the community is very generous in supporting the programs they have that serve over 1,100 kids a year in the Berlin, Green Lake, and Ripon areas. The telethon will be held from 5 to 8 pm in their teen center at their Berlin facility. The number to call to make a donation is 920-658-5225. The Club’s Berlin facility will be closed tomorrow due to preparations for the telethon.
Congressman Grothman On Midterm Elections
Congressman Glenn Grothman feels Republicans could have made more gains in the House and Senate during the Midterm elections last month. The GOP has control of the House, but with a victory in the runoff for the Georgia Senate race Democrats have a 51 to 49 majority in the Senate. Grothman says inflation and crime were easy issues to bring up. The federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah talked about those two issues during his successful reelection campaign but also about the illegal immigration problem on our southern border and the rise in drug overdose deaths due to the flow of fentanyl over the border. Grothman won a primary race in August and had no opposition in last month’s Midterm elections.

The committee serves as an advisory team to House Republicans in crafting policy priorities and provides a forum for Republican members to discuss legislative proposals. Grothman says, “I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to bring Wisconsin values and commonsense solutions to the Congressional leadership table by serving as a regional representative to the Republican Policy Committee.”
