Powerball Winner In California
After a 10-hour delay numbers were drawn for a $2 billion Powerball jackpot with one winning ticket holder in California. The numbers were 10, 33, 41, 47, 56, and the Powerball was 10. The jackpot was worth just over $2 billion. In Wisconsin there were three $50,000 Powerball winners with winning tickets sold in Ashwaubenon, Lake Geneva, and West Allis. As for the $2 billion jackpot, the winning ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, California a small community in the foothills northeast of Los Angeles. The owner of Joe’s Service Center will receive a maximum Powerball bonus of $1 million for selling the winning ticket. The one-time cash option for that $2 billion jackpot is $997.6 million.
School Referendum Voting
The Ripon Area School District wasn’t the only school district in the state trying to pass an operational referendum in Tuesday’s election. District Business Director Jonah Adams says 60 school districts across the state had 81 questions on voters’ ballots. He says more than 40 of those districts were asking to exceed their revenue caps on a non-reoccurring or reoccurring basis. He says in addition 39 school districts were asking for permission to issue debt, which is usually done for building projects. Adams says the state’s decision to freeze state aid to school districts during the past two-year budget cycle impacted a lot of school districts. He points out that the future of school aid from the state also hung in the balance with the results of yesterday’s voting on state offices.

A public hearing on the vacation of that portion of street will be held on Monday, November 28th. The Council meets at 7 pm in the Council Chamber of the Ripon City Hall.
Stranded In Waupun
An Oklahoma woman stranded in Waupun found out just how kind the city’s residents are. Early one morning last week police responded to a business for a report about a 29-year-old Oklahoma woman who was stranded. She was trying to get back to her home, but didn’t have the means to travel. An officer was able to secure donations for a train ticket for the woman. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office took her to the train station in Columbus. She was able to get home thanks to donations from the Waupun Food Pantry, Heritage Ridge Travel Plaza, and Waupun Police Officer Aaron Gile.
