Powerball Drawing Delayed

The Powerball drawing Monday night was delayed and the official results may not be known until later today. The Multi-State Lottery Association said in a statement the record-breaking $1.9 billion Powerball drawing was delayed because a participating lottery had issues processing sales. There are 48 participating lotteries that have to submit their sales and play data prior to the winning numbers being selected. Once the Powerball receives the outstanding submission, the drawing can proceed.  The winning numbers and recorded video of the drawing will be posted to the Powerball website and YouTube channel. Wisconsin had five $50,000 Powerball winners Saturday night. Winning tickets were sold in Green Bay, Hales Corners, Madison, Onalaska, and Prairie du Sac.

Election Today

Voters in Wisconsin will have plenty to vote on during today’s mid-term elections. State offices include Governor and Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Assembly and for some State Senate seats. Federal offices include U.S. Senator and Congressional seats. There are also county offices for Sheriff and Clerk of Courts. There will also be referendums.  Polls will remain open until 8 pm with those who are in line at that time allowed to vote as well. Election results will be posted at Hometown Broadcasting.com with results also reported on during our newscasts Wednesday.

FDL Fleet Farm Burglary Suspect Charged

Bond has been set at $25,000 cash for the 29-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of a burglary at the Fleet Farm store in Fond du Lac. Elihu Espinoza made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Monday. He is charged with burglary, five counts of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of burglary tools-all felonies, and one misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property. Detectives executed a search warrant at his residence in the 400 block of Ann Street last Wednesday and recovered all five firearms and ammunition taken during the burglary at the store on October 28th. He was also wanted on a nationwide warrant out of Oklahoma.  An extradition hearing on that warrant is scheduled for today. A preliminary hearing on the Fond du Lac County charges is scheduled for November 17th.

Horse Victim Of Calumet County Hit And Run

Calumet County Sheriff’s officials are looking for a hit and run driver who left Firelane 13 in the Village of Harrison Sunday evening shortly after 8 pm. A pickup truck traveling north on the road went into a horse pasture hitting a fence, a horse, and a utility pole. The horse was seriously injured. The pickup was most likely a Ford truck. It is missing the front grill and has a damaged headlight assembly. The front grill was left behind at the scene. Aerial Patrols Scheduled

Interstate 41 in Dodge County has been targeted for aerial patrol enforcement by the State Patrol tomorrow. State Patrol pilots will team up with law enforcement on the ground looking for drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively.  The Air Patrol Unit is one way to enhance public safety efforts. Today the enforcement effort will be used on I-39 in Portage County. Thursday the Air Patrol will be done on State Highway 29 in Marathon County and State Highway 57 in Door County. A patrol on I-94 in Waukesha County will round out the week on Friday.

Parents Workshop On Sexual Exploitation Of Children Offered

A parents’ workshop on the sexual exploitation of children will be offered at the Beaver Dam Middle School Auditorium Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. Law enforcement officers will be leading a presentation covering current trends in online sexual exploitation of children. It will include an overview of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on some of the top online applications of exploitation presently seen and an overview of those applications and characteristics of offenders and victims. There has been an explosion of cases over the past 5 to 10 years involving children and technology. Those planning to attend are asked to pre-register online.

Waupun Officers Receive Life Saving Awards

A couple of Waupun Police officers received life-saving awards for helping resuscitate a drug overdose victim last Wednesday night. It happened shortly after 9:30 pm at a residence on East Lincoln Street. Police, Waupun Emergency Medical Responders, and Lifestar Ambulance responded. Officers Jackson Hague and Annie Cedarquist administered Narcan and provided CPR to a 24-year-old man. EMS provided further medical care to the man and he regained consciousness. Both officers were credited with doing a great job.

Berlin Holiday Parade

The 37th Annual Berlin Holiday Parade “A Storybook Christmas” promises to be fun for the family on Thursday, November 17th. Things begin at Nathan Strong Park at 4 pm with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, and an opportunity for carriage rides. At 5 pm trees in the park will be lit up. Harry Kwidzinski is the President of the Achieving a Better Community Group which sponsors the tree program. He says over 150 trees sponsored by individuals will be lit up. Sue Trampf, Chairman of the ABC Board of Directors, says the 37th Annual Holiday Parade will step off at 6:30 pm with more than 40 entries. The Grand Marshal for the parade is Julie Boeck in recognition of all her work on the community’s behalf. LWV Of Ripon Area Annual Holiday Gala

The League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area is hosting its Annual Holiday Gala meeting next Tuesday. The event will begin at 6 pm at Congregational Church on Ransom Street in Ripon. It will feature a raffle and meal. The cost of the meal, catered by J’s BBQ is $20. The public is welcome to attend but needs to RSVP before this Friday by calling 920-960-3397or email lwvriponarea@gmail.com. The featured speaker for the evening is Maria Douglas. League President Ellen Sorensen says Douglas willl speak on Implicit Bias. Raffle tickets are available at Dear Prudence at 210 Watson Street in Ripon. Raffle prizes include a $420 diamond bracelet from Diedrich Jewelers, $400 gift certificate from Dear Prudence, a $60 prize from Alexandria Games, $50 prize from DIG holiday décor, and $30 prize from Vines & Rushes. The League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

Empty Bowls

Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Leadership Fond du Lac Alumni will host Empty Bowls on Wednesday December 7th at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center from 11 am to 1 pm. This year guests can choose between dine-in service or take out. Sponsors include Charter Communications/Spectrum, Hometown Bank, Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, Fond du Lac Noon Rotary, and SSM Health. Empty Bowls, established in 2002, is a community-driven effort to fight hunger. Proceeds from the event benefit area food pantries. Tickets are $18 and are available online at the Envision website. Attendees get six gourmet soup samples, bakery, a dessert, and water or milk. You also get the option of keeping a bowl or aluminum extracted Christmas ornament.
