Former Winneconne Teacher Bound Over For Trial On Child Enticement Charges

A Kimberly teacher charged with child enticement in Winnebago County court has been bound over for trial. Twenty-four-year-old Brian Brown of Oshkosh is suspected of sending inappropriate pictures and messages via Snapchat to three of his former students at Winneconne High School. During a preliminary hearing yesterday a judge found probable cause to bind Brown over for trial. A criminal complaint alleged Brown added former students to his Snapchat, and the victims say the messages began friendly. However, the victims say messages started getting “weird.” He is charged with child enticement-prostitution, soliciting intimate representation from a minor, exposing a child to harmful material, and disorderly conduct. He will be back in court on November 21st.  Brown was placed on leave from the Kimberly School District.

Earlier in the day officers investigated an attempted swatting incident at South Park Middle School that was also unsubstantiated.

Oshkosh School Swatting Incident

The Oshkosh Police Department investigated the report of an incident at South Park Middle School involving a weapon Thursday morning. It was determined it was a swatting incident attempting to elicit a large scale law enforcement response to the school. Just before 10:30 officers received information that a caller contacted the dispatch center stating that there was a disturbance involving a weapon taking place at the school. The school’s resource officer was on the scene when the call was reported. The officer and additional officers checked the school and found no such incident occurring. Last night Oshkosh Police investigated a second threat posted on social media about an Oshkosh School. That threat was also unsubstantiated.

The 2023 Fond du Lac County Budget has been turned over to the Finance Committee for further consideration. County Supervisors will approve the budget next month.
