9/29/22 WISS License Transfer

29 September 2022 News

Hometown Broadcasting, LLC, headquartered in Ripon, has announced that the FCC has approved transfer of license ownership of two of their five licenses to Civic Media. Madison based Civic Media is also a member of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

WISS listeners that tune into 1100 AM or 98.3 FM in the Berlin and Oshkosh area will hear news, talk, and sports rather than “retro variety music.” Civic Media partners, Sage Weil and Mike Crute, are building a network of stations across the state of Wisconsin.

As in the past 20 years, WAUH, “The Bug 102.3 FM” will continue to broadcast music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s along with Green Bay Packer football. Hometown Broadcasting will also retain “The Wave 93.1 FM & 1600 AM” serving Ripon, Green Lake, and surrounding counties since 1957 with “The music you grew up with”, plus Wisconsin Badger Sports and local High School Sports.

Owner, Tom Boyson, said, “We’re grateful for having the ears of so many local listeners over the years, and we’ll continue to bring the same formats on The Bug & The Wave.”
