Man Wanted In Clintonville Auto Theft And Elder Abuse
A felony arrest warrant has been issued for a man who stole two different vehicles in Hortonville and Clintonville Tuesday. Clintonville Police says Seth Genereau arrived at a Citgo gas station on North Main Street in Clintonville in a red 1965 Ford he had stolen from a resident in the Village of Hortonville. He then fought with an 81-year-old Michigan man and took the man’s 2020 Black Chrysler Pacifica. The Michigan license plate on the stolen minivan is DWF1599. A number of charges have been referred to the Waupaca County District Attorney’s Office against Genereau including two stolen vehicle charges, robbery with use of force, and physical abuse of an elder person. Oshkosh Shooting Incident
Oshkosh Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident in the city late Tuesday night. Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Glenbrook Lane for a report of a man discharging a firearm multiple times. No one was injured and they took the man into custody. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Oshkosh Police Department at 920-236-5700. Oshkosh Man Charged In FDL County Court
Bond has been set at $5,000 cash for a 32-year-old Oshkosh man who tossed nearly 62 grams of crack cocaine and marijuana during a foot chase with Fond du Lac Police last Friday morning. The brief foot pursuit followed a traffic stop of Leonard Carter near the intersection of South Main Street and Sheboygan Street. Carter made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court on Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on September 30th. He is charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of marijuana, and obstructing an officer. Both drug offenses are his second.
Special Meeting Of Ripon Common Council
The Ripon Common Council will hold a special meeting tonight to consider the purchase of a snow plow truck. The City has been considering the purchase of a plow truck as part of the 2023 budget. But in seeking estimates from companies that provide those types of trucks three companies informed the city that they were already taking orders out to 2024. One company did not respond, but the city did find a company that had a 2023 plow truck available now. The company located in La Crosse gave the city a quote of $225,000. The last plow truck the city bought was two years ago and it cost $185,000. The new plow truck would replace one from 1995 or 1998. The Council meets at 6 pm in the Council Chambers at Ripon City Hall. It will also be available on the Zoom video platform.
Oshkosh Emergency Water Service Repair
Traffic in Oshkosh had to be diverted Wednesday to fix water service at 1118 High Avenue after a valve on the property failed. Traffic was restricted to one lane while the repair was being made which took hours to fix. High Avenue is also the detour route for Algoma Boulevard, which is being reconstructed. Crews had to do some excavating to make the repair. Motorists were encouraged to avoid the area during the repair.
Wautoma Solar Power Project Update
Work is progressing on construction of a 99-megawatt solar project in the Waushara County town of Dakota and city of Wautoma that would generate enough electricity to power nearly 26,000 homes. Alliant Energy officials say at this stage there are approximately 70 workers on site. Crews have been focusing on site preparation, grading, seeding and fence installation. The crew is also in the early stage of pile driving and some of the electrical work. An eight-foot deer fence is being installed around the project site to keep animals away from the wiring. Grasses and plants are seeded throughout the project site as well. Grasses grow between solar panel arrays. Pollinator habitat grows on the outskirts of the project area. The work crew is expected to increase to about 100 workers.

Moraine Park Referendum
Getting out information to voters is the key to Moraine Park Technical College success in having a $55 million referendum approved on the November 8thballot. Passage of the referendum would allow the college to borrow funds to update and expand Moraine Park facilities. That would be accomplished through four major projects between 2022 and 2025. Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald says two of those projects would be on their Fond du Lac campus. It would include infrastructure work for the automation, innovation, and robotics center and to renovate their manufacturing and trades wing. The other project on the campus would be a revamp of their Health and Human Services wing, which would include health simulation suites that could serve 100 to 120 new students. Other projects would include a major addition to the manufacturing, automation and robotics program on their West Bend campus and construction of a Fire Training Center in Dodge County.
Fundraiser For Scarlett
Webster’s Marketplace in Ripon is hosting a fundraiser today to help out a two-year-old girl born with Dandy Walker Syndrome. It’s a condition where the person is born without a cerebellum in their brain. In addition Scarlett also has hydrocephalus which causes fluid to build up in the brain. A shunt was implanted during surgery to help with draining the fluid. The shunt was removed on July 26th during surgery at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Candi Baker, Webster’s President, says Scarlett is the granddaughter of one of their team members and she will continue to need MRIs to make sure fluid doesn’t build up. In addition Scarlett has needed weekly therapy to help her learn how to walk and talk. The Webster’s fundraiser is at the Brat Fry Stand outside the store from 11 am to 7 pm. It will feature pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, deli mac & cheese, assorted baked good and drinks. Baker says all proceeds will go toward Scarlett’s future medical needs and care. In It For The Long Haul
At the end of next January Kim Mueller will mark ten years as Fond du Lac County’s Public Health Officer. Mueller succeeded Diane Cappozzo who had that position with the county for more than 30 years. Mueller says Cappozzo still works for them in a limited capacity helping out with influenza clinics at the schools. Mueller says they have had some challenges during her stint as public health officer especially during the COVID-19 epidemic, but she enjoys the work she does on behalf of the community. She says she’s in it for the “long haul.”
