Ripon Public Works Garage

Ripon City Administrator Adam Sonntag

Ripon City Administrator Adam Sonntag says the purchase of land by the Public Works Garage on Aspen Street was a good investment for the city. He says it was a small piece of land purchased for $57,000 but it gives them room to build a new public works garage which the city sorely needs. He says they will be able to use the old facility while building the new one and once it is complete they can demolish the current Public Works Garage. Sonntag says the current facility was built in 1957 and has served the city well, but the vehicles they use today are much larger than those that were in use 60 years ago and trying to fit them in the old garage is a real challenge for staff.

Lakeapalooza

Organizers of Lakeapalooza in Green Lake are hoping Saturday’s fourth annual event in downtown Green Lake by the American Legion Hall and tennis courts will be their best yet. Mike and Jill Havey and other sponsors stage it. Lakeapalooza will run from 3 to 10 pm featuring music by Gizzae-a reggae band, the highland music of the Clan Donald Bagpipe and Drums band, and the Davidson County Band. Mike Havey says all the proceeds will go to three non-profits in Green Lake. Those non-profits are the Green Lake American Legion Post, Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Thrasher Opera House. Food will be available from food trucks from Osorio’s, Caribbean Taste, and Jamie Beach and Adam’s Rib BBQ. A full bar will be available outside of the American Legion Post. Chamber Executive Director Lisa Meier says it is a great way to wrap up the summer and launch them into the next season. The event is rain or shine.
